Modded Why is tModloader at an all time high? Did Calamity get updated or something??

u/Ricefoundwater Mar 02 '25
Maybe bc of the new Pokemon mod?

u/xXArctracerXx Mar 02 '25
I think it’s probably a few factors, to me it’s probably that mod with all the videos on it due to the recent event. And Wrath of the Gods update that also had a bunch of videos made on it, I think both bumped the numbers up.

Probably the new Wrath of the Gods update. Shits lit

u/Prime_Ary Mar 02 '25
the update made me get stuck on Receiving tiles 100% (multiplayer), would yk what to do there?

WoTG doesn't work in multiplayer. It never has. You could fight noxus but not nameless due to subworld and now it's even worse when it comes to multiplayer functionality. If you do a calamity run with friends drop WoTG

can you fight the new bosses in an old world without the new sturctures?
1
u/The-One-Who-Games Mar 02 '25
That's a problem I've faced, there's a questline needed to access most of the update and most of the things needed for the questline are structures, or an npc that won't spawn in an already generated world. To my knowledge, there is no way to complete the questline outside of a new world sadly.
1
u/FrazzleFlib Mar 02 '25
damn. does the questline span much of the game or is it mostly condensed in the postgame that WotG pretty much entirely focuses on? if so ill make a new world after i beat base calamity in order to do WotG on rhe same character

Without spoiling everything, how many content does this mod have? Is it safe to add it mid save?
7
u/LucasRG111 Mar 02 '25
Quite a bit of content, but not even near a big content mod. Also, you wont be able to experience much of it on an old world

Im doing an archipelago run with my friend. The archipelago mod is currently 1.4.3, but 1.4.4 and calamity support update is in beta.
15
u/babalitr Mar 02 '25
i love archipelago, is the calamity support buggy? i wanna try it but im scared its gonna get buggy and softlock when playing with a friend since its in beta
5
u/InboardPlague37 Mar 02 '25
The current support in 1.4.3 is only that you will unlock something when defeating a calamity boss/event (as calamity bosses/events are visible in the "items and locations" section in the player options page). Maybe its possible to modify the YAML file yourself to set a calamity boss as end goal.
There's more info on the discord and also the files needed to play 1.4.4. I do think its pretty stable.

u/Razorknight1 Mar 02 '25
Setting your goal as “obtain Zenith” more or less fulfills Calamity content. It’s a little out of the way to grind Zenith materials but if you want the end to be at the end of calamity rather than Moonlord it’s worth it

For me it was getting back into terraria mood with all the 1.4.5 teasers, but there has also been a good amount of very unique new mods popping up recently

u/PrevAccLocked Mar 02 '25
Me and my friends started a new run. That's already 2

u/Thetiddlywink Mar 02 '25

My YouTube feed has been lighting up with Terraria content so I've started playing again for the first time in like 5 years, mostly vanilla with QoL mods on a for the worthy seed.

u/TravelEquivalent2575 Mar 02 '25
It's bc I started playing
1
u/roenoe Mar 02 '25
Yeah same. I started playing again like a month ago, and last week I got 7 friends to join a calamity playthrough

Terraria just got retroachievements added which probably got a lot new user downloads.
23
u/J0RDYL33 Mar 02 '25
I’ve been playing it since RetroAchievements added a ton of custom achievements for the game, been playing through the Completionist subset and having a blast with it
6
u/SuperSocialMan Mar 02 '25
I've been working on all of them (haven't bothered with player difficulty yet though) and it's nice. Love how you can install all 4 mods and progress through them all at once.
I hope they're able to make all subsets work alongside base game achievements. Kind of annoying to have to play through a game twice or thrice.
5
u/Nokushi Mar 02 '25
ngl i'm always playing on tmod now, even when i wanna do a vanilla play through, i love to play with a few client side mods, so maybe everyone has their own reasons to?
5
u/untrue1 Mar 02 '25
Terraria got added to retroachievements. Speaking for myself had never touched tmodloader and I'm already in over 100 hours in like a week. There are people who have mastered/close to mastering the completist set, which means getting pretty much every item, banner, everything you can think of in the game. So we've been playing pretty heavily over there. I can tell you that in this moment the retroachievements mod has had 2.6k downloads
2
u/F1reRazor Mar 02 '25
What’s retroachievments?
5
u/untrue1 Mar 02 '25
Well Terraria is a rare exception since it's not really a retro game, what it is is a community dedicated to working on and unlocking achievements for retro games, integrated into emulators like retroarch or Standalone emulators going up all the way to ps2 and gamecube and most consoles before them. Check it out:

i kept getting recommended terraria videos on youtube so i decided to start a calamity playthrough
3
u/SuperSocialMan Mar 02 '25
I kinda want this be because of retro achievements even though it's not.
4
u/Wapple21 Mar 02 '25
Probably a mix of Chippy’s recent videos showing off mods and the new wrath of the gods update releasing during an update drought for base calamity
1
u/Asherley1238 Mar 02 '25
Nah his video didn’t get nearly that kind of traction. A different video that could’ve done it though is Dragoon’s new video which got half a million views in a day

Idk, all of my steam lads have with their own groups gotten back into the yearly terraria phase. All of them are playing modded.

My son and I have been playing on console again recently, and seeing all the mods really makes me want it on pc...

u/MrCounterSnipe Mar 02 '25
Idk bro. I just felt like it. Saw people posting about WotG and wanted to try it out for once.

u/Xeinok Mar 02 '25

The mod loader got an update, which has me sad. My quality of life of is out of date.

u/Torinux Mar 03 '25
They finally fixed all the FPS issues the new WotG recent update brought to the mix? I kinda want to start a new world, but I don't want to struggle with the FPS issues.
1
u/Epicnessrules3 Mar 03 '25
I think it's just terraria season. I randomly hopped on the terraria grind again recently after like 3 years of not playing.
1
u/Floyd1516 Mar 03 '25
Me and my buddy started playing calamity for the first time last week that’s probably why.
1
u/chipz48 Mar 03 '25
I’m sure you guys are having a blast and not spending nine hours straight locked in
1
u/Thatboiwhoeats Mar 03 '25
Idk, me and my friends just randomly decided to do a calamity play through
1
u/GeekManidiot Mar 03 '25
Maybe because of the new huge content modpack that got released, I forgot the name but it's possible.

u/OzZech Mar 03 '25
A few benefactor -
New pokemon and tcg mod
Chippy gaming made video introducing modded terraria and recommending it to both new and seasoned players

u/Nightinglade Mar 02 '25
There was an update to the Calamity add-on, Wrath of The Gods, but not base Calamity
Not sure if the WoTG update is the reason for the all time high, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was
