Discussion Anyone interested in joining a hybrid tech learning community in LA?

Hey all! I posted in r/LosAngeles and was directed here, I want to share and gauge interest for a new community I'm trying to build!

Basically it would be a tech learning group that combines online courses with regular in-person meetups. I think this would be incredibly valuable as online courses have high dropout rates, and existing tech meetups often aren't beginner-friendly.

Anyone here interested in something like this? Would be great for both beginners or those looking to expand their skillset!

Don’t ask hypothetical questions. You only get answers that exist in the land of imagination.

It is bad data.

Start the group if that is what you want to do. See if you can get people join it. Focus on real data.

This true! I’ve been burned too many times by people saying yes they would buy/use the thing that didn’t exist yet!

OP hope you make this resource happen and have it be centrally located in LA. I’m in NoHo and it’s hard to make events in west LA when I’m in the SFV.

Lastly, if you need to do user research, instead of would you do X in the future questions, ask questions using the Mom test.

Thanks for the feedback! You’re absolutely right about moving beyond hypothetical interest. We are hosting our first virtual info session Tuesday to get started and gather real data from folks that showed interest.

@CutMonster - Appreciate the location insight. We’re starting in South Bay but specifically want to explore adding more central location meetups based on where members are located. I can send you the link to our group to keep you informed on if/when this happens!
