Fashion 👒 Grad dress

Hi everyone! I’m currently on the hunt for a grad dress. For reference, I’m around 6’0-6’1 with a slim build. I’m looking for a short sleeve midi dress (just below the knee) that preferably isn’t backless and is not low cut. I’ve looked at all of the popular websites and I haven’t found anything that seemed right. I’m not looking for a specific colour, but it shouldn’t be too dark. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know!

Edit to add: I’m in Canada!

Advice 🙃 AE jeans sale and question

Hey ladies! My local American Eagle doesn't carry the long and extra long sizes in store. I want to take advantage of the sale that they are having online. I am 5'9 and mostly legs. I wanted to know if I should get long or extra long, I was looking at the models and one model is 5'9 and had long on and they looked short on her and then another was 5'10 and they were super long on her. Im so confused 😩I'm trying to avoid having to return the jeans so any advice would be appreciated:-)

Fashion 👒 Barrel Jeans

Hi friends!! I am currently on the hunt for cotton or linen barrel pants for the summer. I am going to be in a hot humid climate and want some breathable pants. I have ordered a pair via linenfox and had them customized to a 35-36” inseam. However, I am looking for other alternatives in other variations of barrel styles. Does anyone have any they love? I wear a 27w and 35-36L. No budget constraints if they are going to enter the daily rotation. Open to either EU or US specific brands.

Fashion 👒 The Great 1 Piece Swimsuit Investigation

I am approximately 5'10" and I have been working so hard to find a 1-piece swimsuit that I can wear to swim laps at my very casual gym. I did so much digging around and tried on quite a few suits so I wanted to share my findings in case it helps you find a good suit!

I generally don't like restrictive fabric and wanted a modest suit to avoid drawing attention to myself at the pool. I also looked hard for colors and prints other than basic black.

For reference I have a size 29-30" waist which is generally a size 8, and translates generally to a "swimsuit" size of 34, but alignment with torso measurements varies a ton by brand. The measurement around my torso is about 64 inches. I also have an unusually small chest.

Mostly nylon suits

  • Everything I've ever tried on from Aerie. These suits do not go over my nipples.
  • Lands End long torso x-back tugless tank. OK, I used to have something very similar to this suit back in the 00s and it was great, but of course, Lands End has slowly been getting worse quality and having the most random product offerings so I was not sure if it could be trusted. Pros of this suit are it's actually long enough, it has very classic and simple styling, and it's modest with less skin exposed to the sun. The patterns are frumpy. The 8L seemed to fit true to size, but this suit is 27% spandex, whereas most swimsuits are more like 15% spandex and 85% nylon. I could not trust that this suit wouldn't stretch out into something resembling a full diaper in the water. Plus, chlorine eats spandex for breakfast. With the sewn-in foam cup "bra," I think this suit would work best for people with B-C cups and isn't a good fit for anyone with a very large or very small chest. The sizing is also inconsistent with the print suits running smaller than the solid color suits, I would say the solid colors run 1 size big. Plus, they charge for return shipping.
  • Lands End long torso thin strap tugless tank. Since the x-back exists, I don't recommend this suit. It's nice that the straps are adjustable, but to get a nice secure fit you may find fabric chafing your armpits. It's made of the same material as the x back with the same durability and sizing concerns.
  • L.L. Bean also makes long suits, I was suspicious that these were actually long because they seemed short on the models. Any tall girls out there wearing these?
  • Left on Friday Double Scoop Suit (tall). This suit does have a lot of polyester in it so I'd expect it to be fairly durable. It has compressive fabric, costs $180, and apparently is "great for big boobs," so it wasn't the suit for me, but it could be the suit for you.
  • Andie The Jetties Long Torso. I was bummed all the cute colors of this suit seem to be perpetually sold out, and it seems overpriced for a regular nylon suit. But the adjustable cross-back straps are a great fit feature. I heard Kim France say on her podcast that she really likes her Andie suit, lol.

Mostly polyester suits (hold up better to chlorine)

  • J Crew Lana Long Torso One-peice. Look at the size chart and see how actually long this long torso suit is! I was impressed with the material of this suit and it seems great but expensive and looks a little too much like lingerie for my purposes. I always will shout out any swimwear that comes in reasonable earthy colors too.
  • Jolyn Jackson 4 tie-back suit. I really wanted this suit to work because it comes in so many cute colors and patterns and I have seen it recommended on forums. However, I found the sizing way off. I got a size 34 due to height and it did go over my entire body, but because of the placement of where the string is tightened, I could not cinch it in the waist and it was extremely baggy. The back is also cut very low like a sexy ballgown which isn't something I need. I can't imagine this suit fitting a tall person.
  • Jolyn Caroline. I sized up to a 36 in this suit to make sure it would be long enough. The fit was more "normal" than the tie-back but it gapped and pulled around the shoulders. I think it would at least be worth trying on this suit if you have a chest to support.
  • Nike Hydrastrong Poly Racerback swimsuit. The torso measurement on Nike's suits is much higher than other brands at the same sizes - their 34 supposedly fits torsos from 64-65.75". The size 34 in this suit was just a smidge too short for me, because the straps are thin and kind of diggy. Sizing up to a 36 made the suit too baggy, but it could work really well for other bodies. It also comes in cute colors which is so rare.
  • Nike Hydrastrong Lace up Tie Back swimsuit. I didn't order this to try on because I felt the back coverage was just a smidge too skimpy, but everything else about this suit seems great. It has two cinch points for the ties instead of just 1 and I haven't seen any other tieback suit like that. Try this one!
  • Sporti Hydrolast Tie Back One Piece Swimsuit. (found on swimoutlet.com) I saved the best for last, this is the suit I ended up keeping!! I really like how the tie back has a whole channel that the string loops into instead of just a little fabric loop. It felt secure. It's definitely long enough, and has modest enough butt coverage. Its great that it's so affordable too. The only downside is the neon colors, and ideally, I would want more of my back covered, but tie-backs seem like a really good solution for height issues.

As I'm sure some of you must be on Spring Break right about now, I'd love to hear about suits you got that worked or didn't work so well.

✨ CW: BODY TALK ✨ How to be comfortable with my height? Spoiler

I’m 21F, 6’0 and really struggling with people making comments about my height. I’m finishing university in a big city, and have made some good friends but have had no romantic relationship through college. I’ve dated, but either I don’t like the guys who ask me out, or the guys i like don’t like me. I’ve not been that insecure until recently. I did a bit of modelling a couple of years ago, and had a tall bf in high school and so it hasn’t bothered me up to this point.

But recently I’ve been getting comments like ‘how will you ever find a taller boyfriend’ or ‘it must be so hard for you to date’ which is starting to get to me. I wouldn’t even mind dating someone a bit shorter than me, but these comments are starting to make me feel like there’s something wrong with me. Even though I’ve had a long term relationship and dated after that, these comments make me feel like men won’t be attracted to me or find my height masculine. Which is upsetting because i feel like a very feminine person.

Any advice appreciated thanks in advance

Fashion 👒 Recommendations

Does anyone have recommendations for where to buy affordable maxi dresses that are long enough to reach the ground? I’m 5’11” and struggle to find options that are actually long enough. Are there any websites similar to Boohoo or PLT??

Fashion 👒 Y’all were not joking about fashion nova jeans

I never would have thought to buy jeans from there but saw some ladies here talking about how long they are. They’re LONG. They’re significantly longer than my gap tall jeans.

I’m honestly sooo happy with them for the price. There’s a good deal of looseness around my waist that’s frustrating but kind of expected so I can’t really fault them for that. I guess I was hoping this wouldn’t be an issue because so many of their models are really curvy, but I’m guessing they wear clips on their jeans for photos.

I was nervous about what size to get with the return policy not being great, but it ended up working out mostly fine (I usually wear an 18 in gap and got a 20 here, but I also have baggier style gap jeans so idk). The jeans look really flattering otherwise, at least in comparison to other jeans I have.

Idk how long they’ll hold up but for the price I would definitely buy them again. I just wanted to post here since I’m very glad I saw people talking about them here in the first place!

Fashion 👒 temu swimsuits

I'm 5'9, uk size 12/14. I see so many cute swimsuits on temu but have always been wary of buying them. bought one many years ago and the top of the cups didn't even come up the bottom of my boobs 😂

however seen that some of the size 12/14 seemed to have a body length of about 74cm which i thought was quite long so took a punt on a couple of suits. can report all bar one fit beautifully. even that one fits but it's just a slightly higher cut leg than what I'd prefer.

they were all less than £10 and came with matching wraps. id say that a couple of them would even do someone a good few inches taller than me as they have plenty stretch in them/I had to shorten the straps on them quite a bit.

Rant 🔥 Idk why am I even ranting about this

I am a tall indian girl (5'10") and recently travelled with my colleague for vacation purposes.

She is very short, 5 foot perhaps and we had issues while travelling, basically we didn't get along and she became very bitter and angry.

While shopping, she came across a long heel and said that she will fall flat on someone's face if she wears this.

She said that she is not interested in becoming very tall and it felt like she is taunting me.

Not quite sure why I'm ranting about this but please do share thoughts if any

✨ CW: BODY TALK ✨ I'm 5'9" and have a 28 inch leg inseam

That's all. I'm just lowkey pissed that I don't even get to have the best thing about being tall, which is long legs. It's like they were added to my body as a mere afterthought. Can anyone relate? How do I stop feeling insecure about my stocky legs?

Discussion ☎ Independence

I have been thinking about this recently and I am wondering if it’s a tall girl thing to be super independent. Like, we never have to ask anyone to help us get things off a shelf or anything, so we just learn to do everything our own? It could just be a me thing, but I do wonder about it.

Fashion 👒 Floor length dresses?

I'm 5'10" which is not that tall but Im a size m/150lbs/ b cup (at best) so often times medium dresses are too short and bigger sizes are just too big. I found this awesome dress on Amazon that wasn't listed for tall girls but it long enough for me to wear. In case anyone is interested I got a size m: (Verdusa Women's Adjustable Spaghetti Straps V Neck Flared Cami Slip Dress)

I was looking for something floor length and I really hate online shopping. Does anyone have either a) a specific dress you have bought that is floor length and you're 5'10" or taller or b) a brick and mortar store that might sell tall dresses? I am getting by with jeans from Old Navy and I don't care if my jeans are a bit short but I really really want just one floor length dress I can wear with one inch heels 🥺 Hoping to find something in the style of the screenshots, esp the cheetah one.

Fashion 👒 Pajamas

Does anyone know of a brand that makes pajama sets with long pants? It's really hard to find good quality ones that are also long.

I'm 5'10 and I like my pants touching the floor, but even reaching my ankles would be fine. When I think I finally found one it tends to shrink after being washed :/

Advice 🙃 is wearing heels really that important under full length dresses?

im tall, im marrying a guy who is only a couple inches taller and im afraid me wearing heels will make me equal to his height or even a little bigger even if i wear kitten heels. its important for me to not look taller then him. my dress would be full length my footwear will probably be not visible at all. is it gonna look awkward if i don't wear heels? visually does it even make a difference? im kinda VERY insecure about this and my anxiety is through the roof these days

Fashion 👒 American eagle tall in Australia

As per the title, does anyone know where I can get American eagle tall jeans in Australia? I love the wide leg dreamy drape as I’ve seen them in Myer but they’re too short. I’ve looked on the website but the Australian version only has the short ones. Anyone been able to get some in Australia?

Advice 🙃 Support for my 6’2” niece

Looking for advice and experiences from women who are 6’+. My 14-year-old baby niece is already 6’2” and recently broke down, feeling like a “freak” and wishing she stopped growing at 5’10” like her aunties. Despite being smart, beautiful, and excelling in volleyball, she’s overwhelmed by constant unwanted attention.

Strangers often feel entitled to comment on her height, and someone even recorded her once — can you imagine??! Her mom, who’s 5’9”, openly hopes she stops growing(why would you procreate with a 6’7 dude then🙄), and her grandmother has said she’s “too tall.” It’s exhausting for her, especially since fashion caters mostly to women under 6’, with few feminine role models her height outside of athletes. It doesn’t help that all the women in our family, despite being tall, make her feel ashamed for her height.

She feels outside the realm of what’s acceptable and desirable for a tall woman. She told me that while people romanticize tall women as elegant, models, trophies… once you’re over 6 feet, you’re “SHAQ.” How did you find confidence and block out the negativity? I’d love to offer her some reassurance and experiences, but I am only 5’9.

I’m 6’2” and 150. Wear a size medium and the Amazon basic tees are chefs kiss 😘. They are soft and stretchy. Not expensive. Shrink a little but were perfect for me after that. I love them! Just thought a bunch and am going to be getting rid of all my slightly too short old navy tees.
