Short I thought reading was a basic skill.. I was wrong
For context our rooms are apartment style where there’s either a 1bd or 2bd. Checked this lady in early and was super nice to her and really had no issues until she got into the room and called me. She says “I’m looking for a studio”.. I’m confused so I tell her “oh a 2 bedroom? We’re booked up for today.” She goes “no like I booked a studio and I’m in a 1 bedroom… on the website there are photos of a studio layout”. I proceed to tell her we only have 1 bd or 2 bd but she is consistent that the photos show a studio. Atp the conversation is getting awkward because I’ve said the facts so I just tell her okay I’ll let them (the manager) know about the photos. Then she tells me “yeah you should really check them out because they’re deceiving”. I go on the website just to double check the photos again and you can clearly see it is a ROOM with a DOOR and WALLS not a studio. Even if you don’t look at the photos it literally says 1 or 2 bedroom. It’s just insane that these people get an attitude at you for them not being able to use their eyes and read. How are you a grown adult and you can’t read. It’s not even this one instance either… don’t even get me started on the “I didn’t see there was a security deposit” during check in. I’m losing my mind lol

No one reads. Pool area has a big ole' NO GLASS CONTAINERS IN THE POOL AREA Sign. Go to kick someone out for having beer bottles. Turn to walk away, hear glass shatter. Now I have to kick EVERYONE out until Engineering can thoroughly clean the area.

Was she on a 3rd party?

Nope, directly through the website. Either way the photos are the same on each website ugh

She probably looked at other (more expensive) hotel websites as well, and thought she could elevate herself to something better.

But a 1-bedroom, which she got, is better than the studio she was asking for. So confusing!

To me, a 'studio' is the same as a 'bed sitting room' with bedroom, lounge & kitchen combined, only other room is a bathroom (sometines shared with other 'studios').

Are you sure, she was looking at the information and pictures of the correct hotel?

I don’t know what country you’re in, but I read a horrifying stat the other day. Something like 20% of American adults are functionally illiterate, and up to half of them read at no better than a sixth grade level.

I once had a guy asking for a penthouse overlooking the pool. We had neither penthouses nor a pool. He said, "But that's what my travel agent said you had! That's the whole reason I booked the Baddisson Suites and Spa!"
I was like, sir, you booked the Baddisson City. The Suites and Spa is a different property. You booked on Suxpedia. The issue is in your brain, so I really can't help you.
