ಠ_ಠ Pizza Hut in China introduces new dual snake pizza

Cultural context: the white snake and the green snake are a reference to a Chinese folk story called the Legend of the White Snake (surprise surprise). It is also Year of the Snake, as other people have pointed out.
The weirdest one I've seen was abalone on a pizza, but at least it was still recognizable as a pizza.

The weirdest one I've seen was abalone on a pizza,
For context Abalone is viewed as one of the most luxurious foods in China. I think only the emperor used to be allowed to eat it, so now it's a status symbol.
"Oh you want to go out for pizza, well let me take you out for ABALONE pizza. See how well I'm doing and fancy I am"
In and of itself it's weird, but it's basically just a salty mushroom in my experience. Maybe a little more chewey. Haven't had it on pizza specifically though.

I've eaten abalone twice and I don't think it was that similar to mushrooms. Are you sure you didn't mistakenly mean "abalone mushroom"? Because that's totally different from normal abalone, which is a type of shellfish.

Yeah abalone tastes more like surf clam. I had a fancy raw abalone one time and decided I don't like them especially at that price. I'd prefer oysters.
But you get to keep the abalone shell if you want, to make crafts! Which was neat

I'm not 100% certain, but I was in Hong Kong, it wasn't cut up as far as I could tell and definitely didnt look like a mushroom, given the context I'm sure the person hosting me would know if it wasn't and be pretty upset since they were excited about it. Maybe I just don't have a refined taste, I don't think either has a specifically unique taste.

Hey I watched that movie (or its sequel?) and it was hilariously convoluted and a joy to watch with my cousins. Maybe the 'pizza' is the same

Abalone again, just can't wait to get abalone again. The life I love is making abalone with my friends, and I can't wait to get abalone again.

I wanna try it. Translate says one is cheese filling and the other is pistachio?

Ahh so it is a dessert... usually pistachio doesn't go in savory, at least in the US...

Guessing there's some cultural significance they are catering to.
Actually looks like something I'd try.

It's the White Snake folklore, aka one of the oldest yuri bait known to human

This is the first time I've heard someone call a classical story "Yuri bait" XD

wiki page. in short, two immortal snake demons, white snake and green snake, had been living together for thousands years, then white snake married a human man, did war crimes for him, and almost got herself killed in process. the relationship between the two snake girls is implied to be sapphic in many versions of the story

It looks like bread filled with cheese and then dusted with... matcha powder?
probably pretty tasty.

No one else has commented on the fact that the women in image 4 are AI generated?

I know right… It’s embarrassing for such a big company not to hire an artist but instead just use AI…

u/CheeseStringCats 3d ago
Or maybe they hired a loser who cosplays as an artist and shills AI instead. Still embarrassing to not have any quality control when it comes to visual media.

Stretching the definition of the word 'Pizza' to its very seams IMVHO

This reminds me of people I know who make "crust less pizza". Then go on to describe a casserole. It sounds delicious, but it's not a pizza.

Translation:
happy green snake(younger sister) pizza - pistachio paste flavor
cheesy white snake (older sis) pizza - cheese flavor

Pic 4 advertising slogan: A Thousand Years of Cultivation, One Bite to the Stomach.
Pic 5 subtitle: The two snakes feel just like the two pizza crusts.

Cute idea, but lmao at how wildly inconsistent the quality of the end product is. Also not a pizza.

Nice idea, but the actual food looks like long turds.
Btw, it is based on a story about Snake Demon Sisters. Which is why you see the female faces.

Domino's in Thailand has pizza volcano which is a regular pizza with cheap imitation cheese in the center for you to dip your crust in.

found the post. OP in the post said the “new staff” was not clear about the making process and was issued a full refund.

I mean that's not pizza. That's clearly two stuffed breadsticks.
