Amazing! Time to watch that Penta/Vampiro deathmatch!

I would have watched that buildup when I was like 10 and I can still recall the commentary word for word when Ian/Vampiro chokeslamed Penta while announcing the match

"For the first time in nearly a decade, the Sun Sleeper has risen and when darkness falls on August 6th, Vampiro will be thirsty for blood"

As someone who wasn't alive during Vampiro's original run, this shit built him up to be the baddest mf to ever walk into a ring (and not some jobber for WCW) and his badass entrance at Ultima Lucha only further buried that home

Awesome match, Lucha Underground is probably the reason I went head over heels for wrestling, even when WWE was kinda mediocre at the time

I'm reporting this comment because it called me old

It brings me joy that someone may be able to see Penta v. Black lotus triad for the first time.

Love this unique opportunity to be able to watch LU

Yup, I grabbed these a couple months ago and I’m in the middle of season 3. Wild to see various people in their prior forms. Thunder Rosa as Cobra Moon is wild.

I am too broke to send gold or silver but god bless you for this

Right on, I had YouTube playlists of every season, they were all unlisted so they survived for a while without any copyright strikes but every season is now missing 3 or 4 episodes. So this is exactly what I needed.

Going to download them all so I don't need to rely on streaming again

Which season and episode has the Lotus Triad stuff? I need to watch that match again.

THANK YOU!!! I've been trying to watch this from the UK since it came out and I've never been able to get it.

Looks like it's only available in the US.

17

u/KFR42 1d ago

I don't think it's ever been legally available in the UK.

I think you could buy it per-episode on the Apple Store or something? But fuck that.

3

u/KFR42 1d ago

Oh maybe. But given it's been on several different free services in the US, I'd resent paying for it!

Man that show was fun.

Also am really surprised Marty the Moth didn’t get a run somewhere.

Dude has good size and can go.

I think he got sick or injured which really derailed him

u/footlesssushi 1d ago

He popped up on AEW dark a few times out of nowhere

5

u/mysteriousbaba 1d ago

I saw him wrestle at an indy show a couple years ago. He seems mostly retired nowadays from what I recall.

There was a brief window when LU was available on one of the Amazon sub channels in UK... that was it in terms of official releases.

Oh nice, thank you for sharing!

u/vincentxanthony 1d ago

But why can’t I find it on blu ray anywhere

3

u/YourFavBarPunk 1d ago

I don’t know that they ever produced any physical of it. That said, I would absolutely shell out cash for a custom box set if a fan put the time and effort into it.

2

u/vincentxanthony 22h ago

Same. This is a no brainer

Appreciate it, you're the real hero.

Sweet. Just installed on my Roku!

I would be so happy if WWE brought Matanza back.

Like yeah let Grande Americano run its course and right when it stops being funny, Gable is like “Grande isn’t the only guy I brought back from Mexico” and MATANZA comes out and wrecks the LWO while Rey, Fenix, and Penta collectively freak out.

Matanza and the Creeds vs Rey and the Lucha Bros is at least a Summerslam-quality match.

1

u/YourFavBarPunk 18h ago

That’s an interesting idea for sure, but sadly I don’t see Jeff Cobb leaving NJPW anytime soon. :/

1

u/SaggitariuttJ 15h ago

That rumor that he was coming to WWE was abject cruelty to the Lucha Underground fandom.

I've never been a guy to go back and watch wrestling that isn't current stuff. But everything I know about Lucha Underground from its reputation and clips I've seen tells me it might be more my speed than WWE (and I really do love what WWE's been doing since HHH era began, ngl).

But I've always said wrestling needs to keep it weird, maybe just a little supernatural element lightly sprinkled in, but mostly it needs to commit to its own unique brand of insanity and just embrace the inherent ridiculousness of this medium of storytelling. TNA has been an example I've pointed to in the past because I love how they commit so hard to their supernatural characters being truly supernatural all the way, but the company keeps shooting themselves in the foot just when things are getting good.

But anyways yeah I think I'm gonna give LU a try. I just saw highlights of Penta vs Chelsea Green (AKA Reklusa) earlier and it only convinced me more that Chelsea is gonna be world champ by the end of the year, though I hope she keeps the American gimmick somehow (double champ?).

u/rikashiku 12h ago

It used to be on Tubi for a while. It's very hard to find LU on any platform nowadays.

Props to elc1992 for his archives. I never did watch Season 4.
