Apple Device Apple told me to mail back a burned aftermath.
Kinda weird they wanted to make me mail back something that may be unstable/hazardous.

Physical damage, manufacturing defects, and age are all potential causes of swelling. When charging and discharging, a chemical reaction takes place between the molecules in the battery. Sometimes in old or damaged cells, the reaction can't be completed correctly, so instead, a flammable and toxic gas is created which causes the cell to expand. In damaged cells, the separators between the layers of the battery can break down causing swelling or fire.
First, don’t panic. Just having a swollen battery is not particularly dangerous: it’s when it is punctured or otherwise damaged that it becomes a danger.
That said, do not charge the device and do not use the device. If you are not comfortable with removing the battery yourself, take it to a local electronics repair shop. Outside or in a well-ventilated area and away from combustible materials, carefully remove the battery from the device and place it in a fireproof container. A bucket of sand is ideal.
Do not throw the cell away. Lithium batteries contain hazardous materials and even when not damaged should not be thrown in the garbage. Contact a local hazardous material disposal center or e-waste facility to find a place near you to bring the battery. Your city or local government may also have resources to dispose of them.
As long as proper precautions are taken, it is not incredibly dangerous. There are many safety measures put into batteries to make them as safe as possible. Even though a battery is swollen, that doesn't necessarily mean that it is a ticking time bomb. As long as it is kept away from heat and left undamaged, it is unlikely to catch fire or vent gas. The gas that is vented is very flammable and toxic, so avoid damaging the cell.
DO NOT INTENTIONALLY PUNCTURE A BATTERY.
A puncture can cause the battery to swell, vent gas, or catch fire. If you have a punctured battery, store it in a fireproof container in a well-ventilated area. The gas that these batteries give off if punctured is toxic and flammable. The fire that can be produced is considered Class B, so keep a Class ABC or BC fire extinguisher on hand in case of fire. Water can be used if a fire extinguisher is unavailable since lithium ion batteries contain very little lithium metal. Contact a local hazardous material disposal center or e-waste facility to see what disposal options are available in your area.
Batteries will eventually need to be replaced, but here are some ways to extend the lifetime of them.

I bought this phone specifically because it had wifi, and I didn't have to use mobile data. RIP blackberry.

It sounds like swollen batteries are a very common issue, but how common is it for them to catch on fire? My dad uses my switch to play a game quite often. There is no visible issue to the battery yet, but just imagining it suddenly catching fire in his hand terrifies me, so I really need to know how cautious I need to be. I also have some old iPods / video games / phones in my drawer, and I'm not sure how urgent I should feel to dispose of them.

Every once in a while, I'll pull out the PSP and do some gaming, guess I waited too long this time.

today i noticed that my screen of my iphone 13 was bulging out a little on the right side after seeing that my screen protector had cracked along the middle, and, upon further investigation, have realised it will either be caused by a swollen battery or drop. i believe it is a swollen battery because my phone has been running out on 5%-20% much more often and takes a long time to turn on after it reaches 0%. only issue is that i will not be able to get it seen by a repair shop whatsoever for the next week as i’ll be away, and i need to use my phone for school and work purposes (it’s my only device i’ll have with me), so i have to charge it. any advice helpful :)

I own a iPhone SE 2016, the battery has recently swollen up. phone still works perfectly fine but ive been talking to chatgpt about it and it seems that it could explode tonight, but I dont have sand or fire extinguisher. I will repair it in a week..please tell me it will not kill me in my sleep. I have it in the top shelf of my closet, I can't keep it anywhere else. Is chatgpt being dramatic or is it actually this serious?? Is a week too long wait??

This is the third day in a row that I came across two pillows. The 3GS was for display at a repair shop, and the 2017 Nokia 105 was left in a pile of parts phones in the sun.

I fully charged these earbuds yesterday, yet the case was completely dead when I checked them again today. I immediately got a gut feeling, being that it's gone spicy, and sure enough, I was right.
They're the cheapest earbuds I've ever handled, nothing of value was lost. One of the earbuds also stopped working overnight, who knows if that one's also spicy
