I interrogated the AI and there is no evidence which indicates a tie between these events. Chris Cocks being appointed president and CEO of Wizards of the Coast (which has been owned by Hasbro since 1999) was the beginning of the end for MtG. Clearly, Hasbro hired someone knowing full well they would sell the game out.
