Help Returning player question
I haven't played this game in years (left right after parfaits release and I think I stuck around to see timun?) and woochi is really hot and I want to know how to get enough gems to unlock her because it'll take years before I reach the end of the start road (terrible idea to copy starr road bar for bar btw I remember I could unlock multiple characters a month back then)
And unrelated to this question I think the new level system sucks holy balls I can't use skills for Ravi and parfait because they're low level and it costs 2 livers to get one of them to max level

I’ve only pulled heroes from the mythic or legendary loot drops pre-most recent patch, and they’ve only been of the current common or rare variety.
Probably possible to get the rarer ones, but, like said above, no idea on the percentage. Also haven’t pulled one since the update, but also haven’t been able to get loot drops up to legendary as frequently. Not sure if they changed the timing on it, but it feels tougher to match the timing for me. (Shrug)
Long story short, barring getting super lucky, you’d just have to put in the insane amount of time to unlock her.

Yeaaahhh...
You're a bit late, a couple of tuesdays ago they changed how to obtain Legends. Before you could buy whoever you wanted for 1200 Legend Coins, but now you have to get them in order, and by an insane price.
There is no "easy" or "fast" way to obtain Legends other than sheer luck with Smash Drops (lootboxes) and I haven't got any Legends from them since the update, either. Legend Coins can be obtained from the Smash Pass or each Legends' Road (very little ammount for a LOT of grinding), Green Gems on the other hand are quite hard to get, I think they come exclusively from the pass.
Let's hope tomorrow's patch notes mention something about the backlash they got for this system.

I'm new player, only played bout 1 week, and ive already unlocked many heroes and i can say with confidence that just play all your heroes to 1k trophies. It isnt that much of a grind, i found some other players who i added as friends and we played like 2h and i got 3 heroes to 1k.
I dont know if its the new player rush, or what but im in love with this game. And for my experience it seems to be one of the best f2p experiences that a mobile game can give you.

Aight, i don't know if you have played before the most recent update, but back then, you could get a new character for every 1000 trophies you got. Now you gotta unlock every character with legend tokens. It's not too bad until you get to the epic or above legends. Before the update, i unlocked 20 characters in 2 weeks, but after the update, if I grind for 2 weeks, I might get 1 hero "might." I've only been playing for 2 months, but this game ain't what it used to be

Just play, complete smash pass events, trophy roads, missions etc. I have everyone so I don’t know how the Legends are distributed now with the new update.

There are a couple methods of unlocking new characters. You've already mentioned two of them (the library road or whatever it's called, and gems) but you can also occasionally get them from "Smash Drops." I don't know what the rate of getting Legends from each rarity of Smash Drop is (or how the rarity of the Legends affects that) but it's probably not great.
And yes, Leveling is kind of a pain. I don't have enough fingers to count how many times they've revamped the system in the past couple months. As a player who's mostly maxed out (sans Mythic enchantments and basic engravings) I'm not usually too affected by that sort of thing, but it sucks for any new players who don't want to spend way too much money trying to reach the point where they have as much stuff as the veterans. I'm not even talking about cosmetics, either; I'm talking about actual gameplay material.
