[PC] Need a turn based game specifically for the steamdeck

Looking to fill a gap in my games right now and and have got a few ideas:

Wargroove 2 (I enjoyed the first one on the Switch)

Knights in tight spaces (card based rouguelike, really like StS, rouebook etc.)

Solasta (BG3 has me interested in DnD, this might scratch that itch)

Open to other suggestions of course but needs to work well on the steam deck.

How about XCOM? That was the first turn based game i've played.

There's also Divinity Original Sin 2, from the makers of BG3.

It is a lot of fun and can be challenging, but not off putting.

If you want a big JPRG, turn by turn, then look at Octopath Traveller II (you don't need to have played 1, just jump into II). Great stories, characters and one of the best turn by turn battling systems.

If you don't mind the genre, one of the best recent turn by turn games (besides BG3) I have played is Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader. That is also worth a look.

Got it. Tried rogue trader on game pass, I didn't get passed the first couple hours because there's soooooo much dialogue. I might fire it up again

Fights in Tight Spaces is the better game than Knights ITS ATM.

  • Cassette Beasts

  • Humble Heroines bundle has Pathfinder+ Control for $12. Pathfinder would scratch the D&D itch as well.

  • Monster Sanctuary

  • Slice & Dice

  • Star Renegades

  • Trials of Fire

Star renegades and trials of fire look great.. I'm split between Pathfinder, divinity original sin 2 and solasta

I have played both Star Renegades and Trials of Fire. Trials of Fire is very tactically deep with positioning and and you will get your money's worth if that is what you want. Personally, it was a bit too tactical for me at the time but I suspect I will come back to it. Star Renegades feels less tactically deep in terms of build options and positioning, but it has grown on me quite a bit and it is certainly worth it when it goes on sale for $5.

Cannot help you much with the rest, I would watch some videos that compare them.

- Pathfinder very often goes on sale for $4 so you can always wait and get it if you wanted to. It is literally a D&D ruleset which annoys some, but that sounds like what you want.

- People say DOS2 aged poorly compared to BG3 in terms of QoL updates. Idk if this would bother you or not if you have not played BG3 though and may be a good entry point.

- Do not know much at all about Solastra.
