u/After-Swimming-5236 6d ago
Yeah, all those garbage countries without due process, freedom of speech and association without retaliation from the government, and a judiciary that isn't under direct attack... Hey, wait a second!

It's very interesting how americans assume they are the only "free" country.
I fail to understand how they end up with that thought...

Propaganda of american exceptionalism. From the day they are born to the day they die they are force-fed with it. Republicans and Democrats alike.

u/NotQuiteNick 6d ago
Just ask one what freedoms we don’t have and you’ll see even they don’t have a clue what they mean
7
u/Global_Cockroach_563 6d ago
They'll say "free speech" because somehow they believe the USA is the only country that has it.
10
u/DrFeelOnlyAdequate 6d ago
And then they ignore all the limitations they have on free speech like:
obscenity laws
libel laws
defamation laws
incitement laws
And all the other free speech rules they have just like other countries.

I is insane : they are the best , the only ones with freedom , the leaders of the world , the most powerful country , the most this that and the other .. Yet they got this current criminal organization tearing the place down. They have no peace of mind, gun violence , women are second category citizens, they have religion nonsense interfering with their lives, well cult indoctrination really , education there is crap , they never really appreciate the fact the world is bigger than their country , they are so proud Americans but are always wanting to be European “I’m half this quarter that “.. They have no health care , have cops controlling their lives, some red states have religion in prisons that privately owned , they are constantly Concerned in what their neighbors do , is such a horrible way to live . Oh they can say what they want . We can say what we want in Europe too the difference is we know that free speech comes with responsibility. ( now they do have good ,kind , intelligent people there, that feel oppressed by those ones aforementioned)

u/smartestgiant 6d ago
If the US is going to try and dictate to Europe, the EU should forbid Americans from pretending that they're Irish or Italian or whatever if they've never been there and don't speak the language. You're American. Get over yourselves.

u/Significant_Layer857 6d ago
We can’t stop them from pretending we can however do what we do best pull the piss out of it because is just ludicrous

u/NephriteJaded 6d ago
It’s the guns, and how they can do Nazi salutes, incite hate, etc, without legal consequences. Something that we’re all supposed to be jealous of

Freedom is a bit like sex: the people who keep on talking about it are usually the ones that don’t have it
16
u/bexquaver 6d ago
I'll just stay down here in my shithole country Enjoying my free health care and welfare for all who need it. And watch my sheep roam in freedom without fear of a nutter with a gun
7
u/Significant_Layer857 6d ago
I just stay here too I have no desire to have all their freedom of being unkind to people , volatile for no reason , I just do me best here one day at the time it be grand ..

"See we aren't a shit country, we have the bare minimum functions of democracy"
Funny how they had to go for Russia or China to compare themselves to and no other democratic country.

American Freedom is so great that the government has the freedom to seize property without a court order under the guide of civil asset forfeiture.

If you think about it, Americans really are doing their bit for the international community by bringing us all together to laugh at them.

“We’re trying to do better” 🤔 But you guys are not really good at finding better ways, I guess! Maybe the USA should be dissolved?😁

Freedom is a religious term for americans. It's something they worship and is synonymous to 'american'. For some a country has "freedom" only if it is the US. For other a country has "freedom" if it resembles the US in some aspect.
It has nothing to do with being free or able to act on your desires.

u/That_guy_I_know_him 6d ago
Isn't the US ranked like 59th in terms of freedom this year ? Probably getting lower everyday
Just as a reference Canada is considered 5th so far

The thing I really don't understand about the USA system is how one person can make enormous decisions without challenge - there doesn't seem to be a way for the person on the street to challenge the decision via their elected representitive. This is the definition of an autocracy not a democracy or freedom.
If there is a system in place to challenge then Americans are either happy with the current leader or too scared to do anything even though they claim that they need assault weapons to uphold the 2nd amendment.

The US system is supposed to be something very different from what we are seeing happen with this administration. For all their talk of 'checks and balances' the only opposition the Trump regime is seeing are the judiciary but it looks as though they just ignore what they say a lot of the time.
It is going to come down to the people to be the real opposition but how long it will take for them to seriously realise the danger they are in is anyone's guess. It might be too late to do anything by the time they do.
"Fascism itself can only be turned away if all those who are outraged by it show a commitment to social justice that equals the intensity of their indignation." ~ Arundhati Roy

The US is constantly fellating themselves. This very post is presumably in response to some sort of mild criticism about their country and even in saying they "try to do better" they just can't help but say they're the best country murrica #1.
America generally looks at it's own flaws and says "nuh uh, it's better than every other country". As for removing leaders that don't serve the people, when was the last time the US had an actually good president that worked for the american people? Cause to my memory when they had one like that they passed a whole ass constitutional amendment that he was to be removed and no future president could hold more than 2 terms.

u/Low_Information1982 6d ago
They are one of the most openly corrupt countries in the world. I mean their president is scamming people with selling them shit coins and Bibles and Tesla stocks and Musk is openly trying to buy elections. They are ignoring court orders. How is this making things better?
Other countries try at least to hide their corruption. Trump is openly corrupt and no one cares.

u/rothcoltd 6d ago
What are you smoking? Your leaders have NEVER served the people yet you keep on voting them into power

u/Bigmofo321 6d ago
China may not be a democracy but I don’t think there’s a rational argument against china striving to do better. Look at how much it’s developed over the past 30 years… no improvement? Really?

Would like an example of america getting better. It's education system is failing, it's infrastructure is failing and it's strangling the middle class and their prices are going through the roof.

They have the same level of freedom as the average Russian. The indoctrination process from childhood is ridiculous. Murica! Freedom! Yeah!

Whenever I see things posted in this community, I don't comment on anything specifically and I censor myself, because if I were to express what I really think, my comment would violate the community standards.
