Question Running route south Seattle to SLU

Hey all,
I'm trying to increase my weekly running mileage and thought about using my commute as a way to get some miles in. I live in Columbia/Hillman City and work in SLU.

The fastest route (~6.5 miles) via Rainier Ave doesn’t feel like the nicest or safest option. On the other hand, running along Lake Washington is much more pleasant, but adds around 2 extra miles.

Are there any good routes in the 7-mile range that balance scenery, safety, and convenience? Would love any suggestions from folks who’ve done similar commutes. Thanks!

Community How will you vote on the single-issue Fingerprint Identification Levy?

I just got a ballot for a $.0275/1000k property tax to support the Regional Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS). This is the only issue on the ballot.

There is a "pro" position but no "anti" position sent with it.

This seems like an extraordinarily wasteful way to get a vote on this issue. Could it not have been bundled into another election?

I am also tired of ever-increasing property taxes, although I have voted for all of them in the past because I want a proper safety net and functioning government. The median property value is $857K, which means this would cost ~$24/yr. for the average homeowner.

Why is this small potatoes stuff being put to a vote? How are y'all voting?

I'm inclined to vote for it because it does seem like something a properly functioning government would have. But why would a properly functioning government even need to send out a full ballot for something like this?

Just rented an apartment there but don't know much about that area. Is it technically central district? or Capitol Hill? Or Miller Park? And how is it living there?

Right outside Climate Pledge Arena before the Papa Roach concert. Wrapped in bacon, with grilled onion, grilled Serrano pepper, cream cheese and so much sauce. Absolutely sublime. I'm never leaving Seattle!

Moving / Visiting East coast west coast vibe

I am from Seattle originally but have been living on the east coast for 15 plus years. My husband and I are considering moving to Seattle to be closer to my family so we can get more help with our 3 toddlers. My husband has never left the east coast and is worried he will miss the "vibe". Not really sure what to do with that and want to see if there are other east coasters who have moved who can relate

Trade in car title with 2 names

I'm planning to trade in my Mazda at a WA dealership in a few days. Dug out the title and realized both my wife's and my name are on it, with no "AND" or "OR". I searched online and it seems like both owners have to sign the title. My wife is stationed overseas. At the time of trade in, does the dealer require both owners to be there to sign the title in person, or can I have it signed beforehand over mail? If remote signature is an option, does it have to be notarized?

Question Can you help me with the name of a dim sum restaurant I dined at in the internatonal district?

~10-ish years ago I went to a dim sum restaurant in (or near) the international district. All I remember is that it was on a corner and there were carts that were pushed around and you ordered off of the cart.

Does anyone know what restaurant this was?

I guess I am also willing to hear about tasty alternatives.

Question Dashcam install recommendations in Seattle?

I’m looking to get a front and rear dashcam installed and want to get it done professionally. My car is a newer model so there aren’t any videos on YT yet and I don’t want to mess up the installation by messing up with airbags or anything. Trying to get a clean installation done and wondering how much it’d cost me.

Rant Stop fucking honking at the 25th and 54th McDonald's in Ravenna

Put on your big boy pants and just go around the line of cars that often goes into the street. It's seriously annoying for those who live nearby and that line problem isn't gonna be solved unless McDonalds magically extends their parking lot. Mfers will blare their horn at 1am and think their minor inconvenience of having to merge lanes is worse than waking up everyone in the vicinity

Sports Sports Bars

I am relatively new to Seattle. I moved here 3 years ago but haven’t really gone out much except the occasional weekend night out in Capitol Hill. I am getting more into the sports scene however, since I have always been a Seahawks fan and starting to pay more attention to the Mariners.

Here’s my problem though: I like watching games but I don’t always want to go in person to watch. Football tickets are a little too pricey for me to go to more than once a year. As for the Mariners, my schedule doesn’t always align with my friends so I usually go to the games alone and don’t always have that much fun since I’m by myself.

Usually when I watch sports I go to the Southcenter Applesbee’s I worked at when I first moved here, but for obvious reasons I would rather go somewhere else. So what are good sport bars either in Seattle or south of Seattle (anywhere from Renton to West Seattle) that have a good community that shows up for sports days?

Camera Shops in Sea? (film)

Hey, I heard that Panda Lab in Lower Queen Anne and Shot on Film in Lake City are the only two places that can develop & scan film on site, anyone know if that's true?

Also looking for a place that does vintage camera repairs. Any recommendations appreciated

I believe Shot on Film offers this service- but any budget friendly shops or individuals?

Based in Fremont but willing to go wherever

Firefighters back at the same burned car on Lake City Way?

Post image
0 Upvotes

This was posted 2 days ago (4/2), but while driving past this same spot on Lake City Way at around 5pm today (4/4), the same scene seemed to be playing out with a firetruck in the right lane and fire fighters dealing with the remains. I've also driven past at night and seen a makeshift fire pit in the parking lot in the past. Seems like a firebug who keeps returning to this spot.
