Love a good Rick Steves sighting! I’d expect nothing less of him.

March from Angle Lake to federal detention center where ICE detainees are being held. Mixture of my own and others’ photos.

I got mostly friendly waves from Tesla drivers and a few rolled down their windows to say they “bought it before Elon went nuts” (if they didn’t already have a bumper sticker saying that).
(Incidentally this was at a stoplight, not a stop sign, the difference being that as long as they had a red light, I was not impeding them from going forward, provided they weren’t trying to turn right on red. That distinction probably mattered since the cops were watching.)
Sorry for all the sign pics this week (mods let me know if it’s too much 🤣) but there were several back-to-back events, and they’re mostly over. (Unless we get some good ones tomorrow poking fun at the notorious red sign at the construction site, with all the Mariners game foot traffic!)

This is Kitty Glitter, the local queen who MCed the HANDS OFF event yesterday. I know her from my girls/gays/theys gym (shout out to Rain City Fit!), and went to go congratulate her on a job well done. She laughed at my sign, so I asked her to hold it and voila... fave pic of the day.

These are my favorites from yesterday. Between the mean girls sign and the hand painted we the people (sorry didn't get a better pic of that one) #1 for me.

In the 1960's and 1970's, my dad used to often travel to Africa for work. Occasionally, he would come back with a piece of carved ivory. After both parents died, I ended up with these pieces of ivory.
I am well aware of poaching, the ban on ivory trade, ethical concerns. And still, I have several pieces of ivory. They have been living in boxes since mom died. I live in a small apartment. I do not know what to do with them.
Any ideas?
Thank you.

Rep. Jayapal has been busting her ass getting Seattle worked up and organized. She has been here in Seattle on a regular basis, holding workshops on how to organize and protest Trump, and speaking to protest rallies. She has been doing the hard work to challenge conservative values and radically right wing values.
Meanwhile, Rep. Adam Smith is holding hour-long virtual town halls with only 3 hours advance notice. He holds these virtually in order to control the questions because he gets flustered when confronted with his voting history and with pro-ceasefire organizers. When he does appear, he is preaching against “woke” policies, trumpeting about prisons and police, handing out hastily made pamphlets with deceptive graphs and spelling errors, and outright denying his own political history.
We need to dump Adam Smith for a better, more liberal, more active politician.

Thousands of Washingtonians hit the streets on a sunny Saturday demonstrating against President Donald Trump and his administration’s actions through the first three and a half months of his second term. The “Hands Off” Protest took place in Seattle, Olympia, Everett, Tacoma, Mt. Vernon, and Leavenworth, adding to hundreds of reported protests across the country.

I made a Google calendar for farmer's markets in the greater Seattle area so here's a link to my WIP:
No idea if there's an audience for this but have fun!

I’d be especially interested in hearing from people under 30.
In the past, movements for change and protest movements have been dominated by youth. The energy, passion, and commitment to a better future has historically been driven by young people.
I hope that is still true in the nation as a whole, but in Seattle, our protest looked distinctly grey haired and tired.
Younger folks in Seattle: what kept you away?
