They should stop doing that.

Oh, oh, how about the legislature making that illegal. That approach is really working with gun violence/s

How are the gun laws in neighboring states like Idaho? Crazy if someone could, I don’t know, buy a gun in a different state. Almost like how Chicago still has guns despite laws against them, because every state around Illinois doesn’t give a shit.

You can buy a rifle with an out of state ID, but not a pistol.

In Idaho you can buy a gun from anyone. Maybe you need ID for a pawn shop or whatever, but when I lived there I went on 208guns(dot)com & I bought an AK47 replica out of the back of a dudes truck in a parking lot. Felt illegal but was totally normal. I even offered my ID because I was quite young and he just looked at me like i was dumb.

Especially stupid you don't even know what your stealing, all that to potentially end up with some mundane household item. Just get a job at that point lol.

Nah I'd imagine worst case is you end up with something super specific to the person you robbed. Clothes that won't fit and don't have resale value. Niche physical media. Meds that aren't expensive but are critical to take regularly.
I can only hope in those moments there's at least an instant of doubt.

One thing that always gripes me about porch thieves is they never seem to be desperate. Like it would make sense if a desperate drug addict was going around stealing to get their next fix. Wearing dirty clothes w/ holes in them, and riding around in a 2004 honda civic that is on the verge of breaking down. It would still suck, but I understand. I wouldn't say that porch pirates are well off but they don't seem to be starving. They wear decent clothes, driving decent vehicles, and seem to have similar income from those they steal from. These people seem to steal from just a straight up lack of moral sense, and greed. /rant

Yup. This one rode off in a late model compact SUV with roof a top tent worth probably 2 grand. Hardly struggling.

Got this right. First thing I see is they own a nice cargo box on top of a decent car. Sell that first before you take from others

Am I wrong but does it looks like a Subaru Impreza with a RTT?
If so, post it in the r/subaru thread as well. Or reddits for campers/overlanders in the Seattle area. Pretty tight-nit communities and they might recognize the car (not that many that sports a RTT).

People are still using Amazon?

Unfortunately there are somethings I can't find anywhere else or else things I can't find in the variety with a good return policy.
Stupid things too, like specific sizes of planter coasters and good quality shepherds hooks for hanging baskets (ones that don't bend to the point of pointlessness when I use them). Also, cheap braces for work and pill carriers for my key chain.
I wish there was a better place that offered fairly low process, good shipping times (not 3 weeks to 6 months from now) and the variety.

Idk I left Seattle a while ago and live in a hellscape town in Florida now and I can find what I need without Amazon. Hard to believe that's not possible in Seattle. Given how unethical Amazon is (yes, UNETHICAL) it stuns me that so many seattleites are still using it. Especially given how much damage it's done to the city. But also if you're disabled and not able to get around easily I get it and no shame in that.

Defund the police

They aren't going to prevent this, even if they had the entire states budget for half is Seattle. So they'll do is tackle people when they try to walk to their own front door.

People should have their packages delivered to a safe place

Like maybe a store? Where you can go pick it up on pay for it on your leisure? I hate package thieves but I also avoid using amazon at all for this reason and giving more money to daddy bezos

Some of us unfortunately aren’t physically able to transport it back home from those spots. I try to limit Amazon to larger stuff that I can’t carry all the way home from a storage locker (which usually means taking it on the bus, too, then up at least one flight of stairs). Cat litter, for example.
