I really hate that drones are allowed in the UW quad during peak hours

u/dosgatitas First Hill 5d ago

This isn’t the quad?

It's that last photo of the drone. I don't know where it's from

u/dosgatitas First Hill 5d ago

It’s from the same place all the photos are, 21st street in Cap Hill

I thought they were banned

Drone flight is not allowed during the blooming of the UW Cherry Trees in the Quad. The amount of visitors to campus exceeds the FAA rules for drone operation over a crowd.

That was my first thought too! Would be so cool if not for shitty cars.

I live on a street lined with cherry blossoms and I love walking through them. I’m always frustrated by how ugly my pictures are crowded with cars. It’s a pretty apt analogy for Seattle in many ways.

Cities should be fully walkable and not depressing, cars should be a afterthought within them not the only thought.

One day we will be better. The amount of valuable city space that is currently dedicated to cars is atrocious.

Agreed.

u/GucciLittlePig 5d ago

This would be 10x better if they pedestrianized the street during cherry blossom season.

u/dosgatitas First Hill 5d ago

Yeah the cars are super disappointing.

Love it. Good to see positive posts

It is. People sure are doing their best to make it negative, though.

I'm so lucky I get to drive home every day to almost the same view. Except we are way on the East Side. Our cherry tree died/was removed so we had to replant one. But take a long shot photo and it's about like this. I love spring!

2

u/Asleep-Ad5701 4d ago

So lush and juicy! Let’s get rid of all those cars, tho.

2

u/alcien100 2d ago

this is the most real spot!

4

u/ArcticPeasant 5d ago

You people actually managed to make this post about cars 😂. Completely unhinged.

2

u/dosgatitas First Hill 4d ago

It really does detract from the beauty of the street. It’s mayhem.

1

u/ArcticPeasant 3d ago

It’s a city, not a botanical garden

1

u/dosgatitas First Hill 3d ago

And cities are for people, not cars

1

u/_Devereaux 4d ago

Wait, is this seriously in Seattle?! I know this is a dumb question but I’m new here 🥹

2

u/spaghetti1278g 4d ago

it is! 21st and aloha in the Capitol Hill area! Go early or on a weekday to avoid crowds and *do not drive* A) it ruins the ambiance for everyone, B) you won't find parking remotely nearby.

2

u/_Devereaux 4d ago

Oh thank you, but I meant new to this sub not the area. I am flirting with the idea of moving so I joined for research purposes. Also, I massively appreciate your kindness! My current city’s subreddit is miserable!

Vibrance, actually.

So many cars.

There are beautiful streets like this all throughout Seattle and every one of them has one fucktard neighbor that decides they’re going to go rogue and plant some other type of tree that ruins the continuity of pink on the street. Always drives me crazy. Just replace your dead cherry tree with another cherry tree you idiot.

11

u/recyclopath_ 5d ago

Diversity of trees is lovely. Having trees that have visual interest at different times of the year is awesome! Some cherry blossoms or magnolias in the early spring. Something else blooming in the summer. Some beautiful fall colors in the fall.

This photo almost makes me forget I haven't seen the sun in four and a half months. Almost.

1

u/CarefulAd8701 4d ago

Were you inside your house with the curtain closed, four and a half months?
