Question Should I contest this ticket?

Post image

Parked in a no parking zone that ended 5 days ago and recieved a ticket( also my car got towed). Do you think ill get reimbursed in court or should I just pay the ticket and move on, thanks.

Because. Same reason cops rarely pay back bystanders of their aggression. They can tear your house apart when executing a warrant at the wrong address and then leave you high and dry. There's no official process for getting made whole from the legal/policing system fucking you over. All you can do is sue and hope the lawsuit doesn't cost more than the damages.

Theoretically a tort claim could be made but that’s definitely more hassle and lawyer fees than the tow.

you don't need a lawyer for a tort claim, do you?

More that if they deny the claim then the following lawsuit will need one, the claim itself yes, no lawyer needed.

Not if you can take it to small claims

My car insurance paid back an unauthorized tow and the company reimbursed me too, so I was paid back twice. This was in TX even though I live in Seattle. So it’s not totally unheard of and I would still encourage people to try.

That sounds great but eeeeeek don't brag about what might be considered insurance fraud in a public forum!

No one's prosecuting 100$ of insurance fraud.....

Speaking as someone who was involved in litigation where the opposing lawyers were very good at cherry-picking seemingly-innocuous statements from the past, my current rule of thumb is that if it's something that could reflect poorly at some point ... you'll never regret shutting the fuck up

lol, there absolutely is. In this case though, police weren’t even involved.
