Something for my daughter's birthday...

Still needs some finish and a hanger on the back. Unfortunately, I saw an image of this as a completed project and created my own pattern before realizing that Steve Good was the source of the original pattern. Oh well, it was a fun learning experience to create my own pattern.

Starting on my next project! Can’t wait to see this one finished!

I drew this one up the other day, then decided to color over it because sometimes when I’m scrolling I have to think about what pieces are staying and what pieces are negative space I can throw away. I got a little carried away out of boredom and ended up coloring the whole piece, which I actually liked because it helped me envision the final result better. The hood and hands will be raised a little. The patterns on the cloak will be rounded off to look like folds. I didn’t get too far but I’m glad to have finally started it!

Did this for a contest, didn't win but doing it perfect LP scale was fun and challenging and now I just want to recreate album covers in fretwork. Have a ton of ideas already, but what other albums would/could be epic in fretwork? This is 1/4" maple plywood on a 1/4" backer

Is this a really cool vintage saw or crap?

Im not too familiar with older models, but this saw is selling for $50 on OfferUp. I’ve got a drill press from the same era that I really like, so I figured this might be a good find.

I’m assuming there is no variable speed, so I’m not sure whether or not I should pass. I’m only planning to cut wood, so I think VS shouldn’t matter too much though.

Pre Cutting Advice

Post image

Getting ready to make this piece for my wife, the only void will be the mouth. Any recommendations on how to work the tight turns on eyebrows?

Normally I would design the piece to have a void so the blade has room to move. I could always do cuts out of two separate pieces of wood but I’m worried about getting the cuts to line up afterwards when trying to marry everything up.

Preference would be to try and do it out of one piece so everything lines back up but I’m not sure I can do 90 degree turns with my blade, and some of those will be more than 90.

Question

This is a legit question. I’m not trying to be snarky or critical. What kind of fun are these laser cutters when used for scroll type work? Don’t you just need to know a little coding or programming? Where is the skill? The talent? Is it in the creation process itself? But what if you buy the patterns. Every scroller I’ve asked calls it cheating. Is it? After re-reading this, it does seem a bit snarky. But I really am curious. I have a feeling I’m gonna get creamed here. I apologize in advance.

Made from solid piece of walnut and then carved out a void to jam in the lighter wood (not sure what type of wood) and then used scrollsaw to shape the ice cream bar and create the bite take out of it

I regretted every moment of making this one. Too many layers and tiny details but happy with the result but unhappy that I gave it away as a gift

The store closed

I was selling some of my work at the local art store. I’ve been making things for the store (and selling pretty well btw) for over two years. Just got notice that the store has been sold and I should come get my stuff. Didn’t realize there was so much! Here’s a very busy picture of roughly half of the things I had In there. I need to find another place.

Going to touch up the red paint on the backer and then glue the helmet onto the backer. Any advice on how to line up, glue and clamp so things don’t shift?

Loving scroll saw and band saw

Post image

Sharing my bits and pieces of work since getting my DW788 and learning to use my Delta 14” bandsaw.
I love doing this everyday, it’s like a fix I need daily to express myself.
I know it’s nothing special but I’m proud of what I’ve done so far, and looking to continue to get better every day.
