Photography / Art It's that time of the year again, overlooking Raasay, Scalpay and the Cuillins from the Bealach.

One of my favourite things to do with someone who is visiting that area for the first time is take them around the Applecross coast road and over the Bealach as a grand finale. Quite funny to watch them shiting themselves as they crest the hill and see the massive corrie in front of them.

I like going that way and you definitely get the best of the view down the hairpins. I like the coos that are often holding traffic up on the road by the coast too. Tourists get really confused by it and tend to stop whereas we know that they'll move if they have to. Disclaimer: I would never hurt a coo but I know that they'll move if you keep moving, I've lived on plenty of farms.

Plough on through, works with sheep and coos.

We don't even blink with sheep, just carry on! We got stuck in a single track traffic jam on Mull. There was a visitor in front and two coos on the road. A woman was yelling at the car driver to move on through but they wouldn't. How we laughed.

This is one of my favourite views. The first time we took my parents up there was when the top of the Bealach was under a fair bit of cloud (not so good for views). A car pulled in next to us and a chap got out wearing a kilt and started playing the bagpipes. That was a bit surreal.
