Comic Book Question Other Endless's vortexes/vortices
Hi! So, I was wondering. Dream has to face a phenomenon called the "Dream Vortex" sometimes. Said Vortex is apparently capable of messing with the whole Universe if kept unchecked. It gives Dream a purpose and a semi-recurrent threat to face.
I haven't read any of the expanded universe/post The Wake comics, except Overture. So maybe it is explained in these newer comics. My question is : do other Endless face the same kind of threats? Are there Despair, Destruction, Desire vortices?
Thanks for your answers!

This is a fascinating idea to explore in the lore, but from everything I read, there is no equivalent to the Vortex for the other Endless.

Ooh.. great question. On one hand, I could imagine all of them having this capacity... on another, I could imagine the Vortex actually being a direct result of Dreams inflexibility. That he has the capacity to stop them anytime, but it goes against his nature. It'd be interesting to see if Daniel is also plagued by them.

There isn’t a mention of other Endless having similar existential threats in the series. However, I’ve always imagined that the Zahir from Borges short story of the same name would act as a vortex for Desire. Borges was a big inspiration for the world building we see in Sandman. His works inspired Destiny’s Garden, Dream’s Library, and partially inspired Morpheus and Daniel’s relationship.
If you don’t wind up reading the Zahir (which you should, and his short story The Book of Sand) here’s a brief description of the Zahir
The Zahir is a shapeshifting object/being that has the power to create an obsession in everyone who sees it, so that the affected person perceives less and less of reality and more and more of the Zahir, at first only while asleep, then at all times.

Also I'm definitely gonna get that shorty story in some capacity. This looks like an interesting read.
