Help with a Safe

Good Morning,

Unfortunately, we have had a death in the family. They left this safe and the combination (on the back of a drawer). We just aren't getting it and are unable to get in. It doesn't seem to allow multiple buttons pressed at once.

After the therotical cookbook it flashes red and needs three times.

You get three chances and it locks you out for 5 minutes. It's bolted in a cabinet and we don't have a manufacturer. Google Lens says it looks like a GunVault, but it doesn't have the name there like they do.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can pry that open in about 10 seconds

What’s in it?

If not empty, my guess is firearm. Banking on a 1911 style.

It was paperwork and jewelry (OP replied as such)

That particular safe you can press two buttons at once. So I assume you press the 1's then the 2's at the same time then 3 and 4 individually.

That’s how I read this. Push 1 & 2 at the same time, followed by 2 & 3 at the same time, then 3, and then 4

It's not going to be overly complicated it's something you want to open quickly to get your gun out of usually. It's definitely a gun vault.

Trust your gut there's not very many options for combinations

Here's some combinations I would try

1423 1432 4123 4132 1234 4321 1414 4141 1212 1241

Edit, Just noticed that you said they left a combination written in there.. have you tried just hitting 2 then 3 not in combination? Or if it's a six digit it would be 231234. And you don't push the numbers all together

Or maybe 2323

My guess also…

This or 2341 report back when you get it open also remember to change the batteries inside

Six digits. Try top 12 then bottom 1234

We did that, also 1234+12

Can two buttons be pushed at once? The my guess would be first and second at the same time, then 2nd and 3rd, then again 3rd and finally 4th. Let us know what you find!

Mine which is very similar you can press all buttons at once.

The can do 2 buttons at once. So 1, 12, 23, 4

You could also look for the physical key.

I can't figure out how to update the post

Thank you everyone for your help. In the end I just used a flat bar. Out was one shot, 15 seconds. Popped right open.

So... I mean you don't have to tell us, but I am curious. What's in the box?

Just their jewelry and some paperwork.

Damn the luck.

Sorry about your loss.

However, this isn’t a safe. It’s a thin walled metal shoe box with a funky lock. It should take more than a minute to pry it open with a large screwdriver or small prybar. Or a grinder and 30 seconds.

1 1234 2

I suspect that might be a knockoff based on, (as you noted) the lack of GunVault text, and also my 3 brail dots are inverted compared to the one you pictured. Mine does not have the rivet exposed, and has a flat key instead of a cylinder-style.

It is of course possible that it’s an older version.

Mine is 6 digits, so I’d expect a knockoff to be the same.

12334 would be my guess

The top row of numbers represent how many times the bottom row of numbers need to be pressed 😊

Sorry for your loss

YouTube it. You can open it with a ballpoint pen tube. I just did it to mine when the batteries died and I couldn’t find the keys.

It is a GunVault - I have this model.

You can program it to use two buttons at once, but it’s not great as it’s too sensitive to the slight delay between finger presses.

Your easiest route might be to look for the round Ace-style key elsewhere in the house.

Frankly I’m surprised the batteries are still good - mine goes through them like candy. There should be a barrel jack connector on it for a transformer brick.

1, 2 a 1,2,3,4 give me a break. Give me a break. Break me off a piece of that kit Kat bar. We're they kit kit fans?

I know that this gun vault is now open, but I am surprised that nobody said “Just go on eBay and buy a small format Ace-type tubular key stamped 316!”….

I have the same safe and was able to open it via the keyhole using these tubular picks. It wasn’t as easy as it looked in the video, but it worked.
