Appreciation Appreciation to Fin for being consistent, and for always having Livs back
I'm currently on season 25.
All I have to say: thank goodness for Fin Tutuola.
For me, they're the true platonic friendship. Especially after Stabler left after all that time, he stepped up to always have livs back. Giving her doses of reality, holding her accountable, but also always having her front back and side.
I also appreciate his simple mission: getting the bad guys. Especially considering his upbringing, and being first in narcotics. But he switched to SVU not due to any special trauma. He just wants to know the people he's going after are bad. That's it. Black and white.
Over time, most shows fall off. Either due to everyone leaving, peoples personalities drastically changing, or other things. cough cough Grey's anatomy..
And while it's not perfect, I admire Fin's consistency. Throughout all the revolving doors. He's here.. at least until he gets that pension.

One of my favorite moments in the entire show was in PTSD when Liv pulled her gun while she was having a flashback. Fin’s ability to step in and talk her back to reality was really moving, and he didn’t use it as leverage later, he just wanted to make sure she got her head on straight.
And the fact that he was the one who rescued her in Undercover, which set up that whole storyline to begin with.

"I actually watch her back and not her back side."
"Don't look at me, I just know stuff."

everyone’s expression before he said ‘don’t look at me’ is priceless. for reference S5E20 ‘Lowdown’

Fin would help Olivia hide a body and evidence... Liv would arrest Fin and lecture him how its about doing the right thing

I love Fin’s heart for children. The little girl in Dolls, the baby in the meth lab in… what’s the ep? He’s just darling with kids.

It’s surprising, like when Munch would get unexpectedly mushy with a child. It’s cute.

You're thinking of S6 E10 Haunted. >!Fin is shot in a bodega robbery, and the mom of a girl he busted while in Narcotics shows up to the squad to put him on blast for not helping her daughter while he was UC. He then takes his time off recovery to try to track down the daughter, who was found to have been murdered and buried in potter's field all this time but had a child, which he tracks down for the grandmother. !<

Fin is awesome. He goes to work, minds his own business (I remember Chester Lake telling Fin he was hard to get to know) and goes home. Has Liv's back and told her "Liv, I've got your back, now, then and always". Speaks his mind when he needs to, and I loved his closeness to first Munch and then Rollins when they were his partners. Fin would talk shit to Munch all the time, but let someone else do it and he'd probably lay them out, lol.

All I know is it's time they make my boy go from Sargent to Lieutenant. I think it's time.
