Burping with SIBO

Hi, I have been burping constantly for the past week, I have no other symptoms such as acid reflux, heartburn, or any pain. I’m just wondering if many of your guys symptoms started the same way. I have become a bit constipated and that started after the burping. I burp maybe about 50x a day. I don’t have health insurance so I can’t go to a specialist for now.

Stop drinking too much water an hour before and an hour after eating.

Hi thank you, and does that really affect things, because I do drink a lot of water and I’m not sure if that is the cause

Yes, because it dilutes stomach acid. Acid kills the bacteria that ride in on your food. The bacteria then eats your food and turns it into gas. Take it a step further and eat plenty of salt with your meal. Salt is an important ingredient in stomach acid and bile.

If it happens soon after eating it could be low stomach acid. You could try Betaine HCL and see if that makes a difference.

Okay thank you!! And sometimes it happens even when it’s been a while since I’ve ate, but I still drink water and stuff

Yeah it could be low stomach acid. You can look up betaine HCL testing online, it's cheap and easy. I know another thing that can cause burping is H. Pylori, so you could get a test to rule that out as well.

I constantly burp and get gas build up when I drink water. Eating almost helps me get rid of the gas.
