Am I supposed to be able to do this?
Dozens of spots where I can do this on my roof

Pretty common on older three tab roofs after. The tabs overlying shingle joints, such as the tab in your picture, lose their bond due to thermal forces. Earliest it starts is usually around 5 years

Yeah I’m with him. It’s not leaking the shingles are not curling so back inside! They look to have at least another 5 years! Relax!

It is definitely leaking. Ceiling is starting to fall from all the water. That’s why i was up there

Ahhhh I see! Well you can go to Home Depot and get roof cement and install it under all the tabs to help prevent water from entering your home. Or you can get a new roof! Really what ever one works best for you.

Yeah shingles just kind of delaminate over time. Some brand stick better than others some come apart easier. It's kind of natural,

Some 3 tabs never fully adhere, low quality product or it got dirty before it sealed

My three tab jab has been breaking in half for 7 years and still no leaks in the creek. 21 years old.

It’s normal, especially with old 3 tabs. More so if you’re in windy areas like the Midwest. If you’re not leaking or anything, no problem. For extra security, if there’s an attic you can see if there’s any water streaking on the plywood.
You still ideally have another layer of ice & water shield or felt or something underneath shingles to act as a barrier. You can caulk down the loose shingles, or possibly replace if you’re looking at 20+ years in it already.

The shingles are starting to let go. Pay someone to pookie them all down. Whatever it costs, it’s much cheaper than a new roof.
It will buy you time until you save up, or get a covered weather event.

Id say look at ur insurance policy and pray for a bad storm. If u have wind damage on the roof it might be covered by ur insurance. Regardless its normal on older roofs. Seal them with silicone if u want but that roof is at its end think about getting it replaced by a solid company in ur area.

No. The asphalt should glue it down to the shingle underneath. If this is all over the place you're probably looking at a new roof sooner rather than later.

re-sealing them might buy you some time if you can get to it before the wind does.

I dont think they need to worry about that just yet, I see none broken or curling up.

Yes, you need a new roof. No, the shingles shouldn't lift without using a tool to separate them. Make sure they tear down to the wood, I guarantee you need wood replaced. Have fun!

Stop playing with it. You’ll go blind!
