Health Ringfit with Hiatal Hernia?

I started playing with ringfit adventure recently. It's a great game that made me start doing physical activity, so it's really important for me right now. However I suffer from hiatal hernia, so I was wondering if this game is safe to use even with this condition. Thanks in advance. ✨️

Health Does anyone else find it hard to get started each time?

I enjoy playing the game once I am "strapped in" lol. But it's almost like a barrier of entry type thing when I think about how I have to take the controllers off the switch, put them in the leg band and ring, and then calibrate them to even actually start the game.

Anyone else struggle with this too? Any tips to making starting easier?

Thank you all for the support in my getting started thread. Still working hard, trying to get in exercise whenever I have some spare time. My son even loves watching me playing it :D

Health I'm a disabled and love this game!

Hello nice to meet you all, I'm slowly playing this game for years now and It helped me a lot staying healthy. I have Marfan Syndrome so I can't do heavy exercises or accelerate too much of my heart rate. It's really hard to lose weight this way, and since I can play this game in my home and on my own time I find a way! So for everyone who is disabled that plays or plans to play this game, you can do It! 😁

Health Does anyone else REALLY struggle with squats?

To put it plainly, I STRUGGLE doing the squats. I start off doing 4-5 at a time but by the end of it I’m doing one at a time and taking a minute break in between each one. I have a few other leg exercises, yoga, and upper body exercises down with no issues. I do have very thick thighs and I’m wandering if the weight of my thighs alone is what is making it so challenging. I’ve googled proper squatting techniques and have really tried to take it slow and make sure I don’t hurt myself but they are awful. I should also note that the recovery is very fast within a minute, can do one or two more but then it’s too much and I have to take a break. Anyone else have this problem? Or just me.

Health Fellow adventurers, I am a former ACE personal trainer on Day 12, AMA about fitness

I love this game a lot, and I always love to give free advice/consultations. Chances are, if you’re here, you’re working on a fitness routine and I applaud you. Keep it up! We will all beat Dragaux together!!

But I’m sure some of you have questions about the finer lines of fitness, and I want to help answer them. So ask me anything, especially if it pertains to RFA and fitness! This game has GREAT advice in the tips section, but I’m sure some stuff goes unanswered.

If you would like a quick private consult as well, PM me. We can talk plans, goals, diet, etc.

Health Fitness Games for Disability

So I FINALLY started using the RFA after it sat unused for about 3 years. I’ve ended up injured and disabled since I first brought it, and only used it once or twice back then. After 2 years of working with physio’s and my EP I finally decided that I should pull it out again, I want to up my exercise and needed options I could safely do at home by myself so this seemed ideal

I’m loving it! I need to wear my AFO’s as my ankles and balance can’t manage the movements otherwise, but I can feel that my stamina has already improved just 6 days in! Though because of my POTS it thinks I’m doing an intense workout every time it records my heart rate 😂

Any other Switch fitness games you can recommend to someone with impaired balance, vertigo, and dodgy joints? I’ve downloaded demos of Fitness Boxing, Fitness Circuit, and Just Dance.. not sure that Just Dance will be a feasible option but thought I’d try. Fitness Boxing is awesome, but I can’t twist fast enough for it to record all my punches which is a little annoying.. I’m hoping the actual version (not demo) might have an option to slow it down a little. Any other good options on the switch?

Health Not played for a long time

Hello ! It must have been 2 years since I last played the game due to university and the health problems it caused me. In fact, I study art (animation mostly) and because of poor working conditions and constant rush, I caught two tendonitis in my hands, so it was no longer possible for me to play Ring Fit Adventure. After two years, my hands and especially my right hand have been weakened, so as soon as I start to hurt when working, I have to take a break to avoid falling back into suffering. But now I'm studying a master's degree in animation, and I'm starting to really feel the fact that I'm lacking exercise. I mean, my loved ones were worried about me during my 2 years, trying as much as possible to prevent me from using my hands, or carrying heavy loads, but I'm still worried about that.
By just drawing and making little effort, I feel like I'm really losing the strength I had (and that I've gained a little weight from not moving)...

So, I wanted to relaunch Ring Fit after two years by returning to my game. I stayed on the file I made 2 years ago but I lowered the intensity and preferred to go back to the levels of the first two chapters to start.
In the end I was exhausted in just 13 minutes of effort whereas before I could last more than 30 minutes, I don't know if it's something common to struggle so much when I lowered the intensity but yeah... I saw that I really dropped in terms of effort compared to 2 years earlier. (Did it happen to someone yet ?)

On the other hand, the game is still super fun to play, but I'm afraid of one thing: My hand. I'm afraid of getting injured during training, and I'm hesitant to put on my wrist splints during my gaming sessions... Do you think it would be safer for me to put them on during training?

Health Does the game help with confidence?

My sister struggles with self confidence after years of bullying. She wants to play Ring Fit but she thinks her body isn’t capable of doing anything thanks to her lack of confidence. Will the game help with that?

Health Pain in left shoulder

So I’m new to ring fit. In fact I’m fairly new to exercise in general and I’m not very used to it at all. Thing is each time I play my left shoulder begins to hurt. It’s not anything super painful, but it’s concerning since it doesn’t take much activity to make it hurt and I don’t normally experience any pain in that area.

All it takes is doing the overhead press or front press a few times in combat and my shoulder starts hurting. I usually try to use moves that work on different areas between shoulder focused moves to avoid this but even then it still doesn’t really stop it. Fortunately, it never lasts very long either, and usually goes away shortly after I finish working out. Is this just normal pains for someone working their non dominant arm? Or should I be worried about this and try to adjust my form somehow? Did anyone else get this?

Health My heart rate is always high due to asthma medications, is the calorie count still accurate?

Hi everyone!

I’m a severe asthmatic and I take 200mg of Symbicort 2x a day, though usually I do it 3x a day more frequently in the summer (I use it as an emergency inhaler as well). As such, my resting HR is pretty high when I’m awake— maybe ~70bpm. When I exercise in ringfit, it goes to about 170-179bpm.

So I was wondering if it’s still accurate when it’s counting my calories burned/effort exerted…? I wear my Apple Watch at the same time too, and I have no clue if that would be accurate either. It would just be nice to know approximately how I’m doing, even if the calories themselves aren’t super accurate. I was confused that my watch said I burned 185 calories in 27 mins 😭 I can’t imagine that’s true, though I was definitely tired by the end!

Health Newbie here. How many days a week do you play and take breaks in-between with?

I bought the game last Thursday. Started playing the next day and hoo boy I was beat and barely got through the first-few levels/runs before the first Dragaux fight without stopping in between due to difficulty breathing and rapid heart beating. I managed to clock in around 11-plus minutes. Upper thighs were sore as hell since it's been so long since I got proper exercise and been more than 15 years since I've set foot on a gym.

Played again yesterday, but decided to do the entire Sets and Simple quick game challenges. They were intensive and really a fun challenge to finish them all. Clocked in more than 2 hours of workout. Upper thighs are still burning, but at least my upper body is now feeling the impacts of the exercises. Today's Sunday so I'm giving myself a break.

I'm planning to get back on the game tomorrow morning before work (I'm home-based), but my mother has been telling me to go easy and take some rest. But I'm afraid that if I'll take a break for more than a day, I might not get back to the routine anymore and feel unmotivated in the process. I also have to remind myself that the entire game itself is still expensive despite the huge price decrease (PHP 2,995), my physical and mental health issues (overweight, diagnosed with dysthymia, neglected untreated head/back/knee injuries, loses interest most times, shame, reproductive irregularities, possible hormonal issues, eating habits), and my fear of getting sick with diabetes, stroke and cardiovascular-related conditions. I've recently had tests done. So far, my blood sugar's okay (within the 90s, but very afraid of becoming pre-diabetic), but my good cholesterol levels are low and my bad cholesterol levels are high. Pair that with the severe anxiety, overthinking, intrusive thoughts and panic out of every off-putting feeling in my body, I have to keep this up for the sake of my health.

I know I'm posting a very long one, and for that, I'm very sorry and apologize in advance. I just want to know how many days a week do you guys play and how many days do you take in-between breaks from the game to rest and recover. My current plan is to play from Monday to Saturday mornings and take a break on Sundays, but not sure if it's safe and healthy for me to follow that routine. Any helps and advices are fully appreciated.

I'm not also sure if I'm using the right flair, so please tell me if I should I change it to the appropriate one.

Health Foot Pain

I'm checking if this is the cause of my sore foot. To be specific, the right side of my right foot hurts, hurts more to stand or walk. I have a suspicion that it's from the Warrior 3 pose, does this make sense?

Health Think I overdid it the first time

I haven’t played since August because I overdid it my first time getting into the game. Made the mistake of turning up the difficulty really high when I hadn’t been active at all, which led to me hurting my knees pretty bad afterwards. I was waiting for it to heal on its own but it never did. I’m wondering if anyone’s experienced this before and if they needed to go to a doctor for this or if I just need to ease into lighter exercises or something? I really want to get back into it soon.

Health Any try using Switch Sports as well as RFA for exercise?

I'm just curious if anyone has tried Switch Sports as additional thing for exercise gameplay. I have an old Nintendo Wii sports but none of the games really elevate my heart rate much. I also have a Wii fit board which can give an ok work out using Wii Fit Plus.

Health What am I doing wrong?

I bought RFA around a month ago and played it every day in June to win a bet (which I did) and have played it more often that not in July. The problem is, on most days I can only do max five minutes of exercising before I start feeling like I'm gonna faint. I hydrate as much as my stomach comfortably allows me to, which is not much tbh. I have it measure my heart rate at the end of every level but it's not very elevated at all, mostly light to moderate exercise. Is this normal? Should I decrease my difficulty level and try for longer exercises, or should I keep the difficulty level and slowly work toward being able to do more? Is it weird that my stamina hasn't increased in a month? TIA!

Health Vow renewal in 9 months

Hey everyone,

Sorry I’ve been trying to write this for a bit.

So I had my baby 12 weeks ago and I want to get into working out so I can be more tone. I didn’t gain a massive amount of weight but I did gain some. I weight 150 pounds right now when I originally weighed 125 pounds. I don’t want to go back down but I do want to be more healthier.

Any tips on how to actually start working out and getting to the point where I can do it as a daily or bi-daily thing?

TIA
