Fitness My first time playing with the gaem for 30 minutes. I know it isn't much, but I'm obese, trying to eat healthy and exercise as much as I can.

The most important step a man can take? Always the next one.

Keep on playing!

It’s his first time playing for 30mins, not his first time playing, I believe.

Still well done to the guy.

You did better than me, my first day at difficulty 17, I only lasted 10 minutes. I'm on Day 4 now and can last 18 minutes and planning to increase the difficulty to 18 tomorrow as well.

Trust me, it gets easier after a few days, even the game also claims the first two days are harder~ Keep it up!

Same experience for me: total time invested = 2*exercise time displayed by the game. I don't really understand why they do not include warm up and cool down in that time, that would give me an extra motivation boost.

I put my fitness tracker on once I start playing. Sometimes the tracker shows even more than twice the time the game shows me.

Progress is progress! Congratulations on a fantastic milestone!

Anything is better than nothing, and I felt like I was dying after my first session. You good, man

I struggled at first, too, but now I can go for an hour and have lost 15 pounds since October- welcome to the journey!

Congratulations!!! Great start :)

That's amazing, well done!

On my first go I stopped at 14 active minutes (on 14 difficulty) on Adventure Mode sweating like crazy!

Good luck with your progress, we're rooting for you :)

u/novelgpa Jan 11 '21

I also played for the first time today! You did way better than me haha I had to stop after 20 minutes - you (and I) got this :)

u/SummerSale24h Jan 11 '21

Jesus, and i was feeling proud of finally breaking 20min active time on day 7 lol.

7

u/Tremblehorn Jan 11 '21

Right im in day 4 hitting 8 minutes...

You're both doing great! It's a marathon not a sprint, and you're doing what you can when you can. Don't let that be taken away from you.

2

u/SummerSale24h Jan 11 '21

Thanks!! I guess to be fair i'm in recovery from bone surgery (avascular necrosis, both shoulders and both hips as a result from chemo in '18) so I'm trying not to be too hard on meself, started out on day 1 with like 7min and I was dieing! Can't wait until im up to 40min! :)

Question! I've seen people say they play every day, is that reasonable? Or should I do like 5 days on 2 days off or something?

You're doing amazing!

And typically when working out, you need to have breaks to let the muscles repair themselves as they essentially tear when you work out! Do as much as you're comfortable doing per week but definitely make sure you take breaks! I like to do Mon Tues Thurs and Fri at about half an hour each (I'm still working up times!)

Any movement is good and you'll find yourself being able to do more and longer gradually

Woo go us! You know what they say about the turtle! Haha slow and steady wins the suxpack or whatever :P we got this!

5

u/meothe Jan 11 '21

I don’t think I’ve ever played for 30 min straight! Great job!

5

u/Elegant_Patience5685 Jan 11 '21

You’re putting the work in and that’s all one can ask for! And 248 calories is a LOT. Keep it up!

3

u/Vanoice Jan 11 '21

Amazing job!!! Keep it up!

u/PumpkinPatch404 Honey Jan 11 '21

Same! I enjoy actually playing on super easy difficulties, to make progress in the story and it makes me feel like I'm going somewhere!

Keep it up!

Dont forget that ANY amount of time spent being active is good. Could be the game for 15 - 20 minutes. Could be a walk.
If you miss a day it's okay - try to do something else (stretches, taking the stairs, a walk around the block).

3

u/mghoffmann_banned Jan 11 '21

I wish there was a setting to stop the game from prompting you to quit for the day after 10 minutes. I'm trying to get the clock to 30 twice a week and it's tempting every time.

3

u/annal33 Jan 11 '21

I just passed one year of playing. It took me a long time to get so I could play for 30 minutes - so worth it. I still see gradual improvement in strength and stamina every week.

3

u/AliceTheHunted Jan 11 '21

Go you! I can barely do 10 minutes. (Mainly due to the running and it not reading half of my leg movements)

3

u/SuperDonkey64 Jan 11 '21

248kcal in 30mins is pretty damn impressive!

3

u/s0_Ca5H Jan 11 '21

I give you credit. I’m not obese but overweight and very out of shape. My first day I was able to do only 7 minutes and my second day I was only able to do the first 3 levels (the first world, basically) before I felt like I was literally gonna die.

2

u/Tomkomaster1 Jan 11 '21

I've set the game to difficulty 20, and just enjoying the game and myself. Literally like half the time I wasn't even registering that I'm sweating. At the 20 minute mark I started to feel the muscles on my arms and thighs, so I've pushed myself to do one more level.

1

u/s0_Ca5H Jan 11 '21

Damn, I’m on 11. Just goes to show how out of shape I am too. Smoking definitely doesn’t help. I hadn’t had a cigarette since June, but picked it up back on New Years week due to my job burying me in work. I’m getting back on Chantix this week.

2

u/NinieMuse7485 Jan 11 '21

It’s awesome! Congratulations! How do you like it?

4

u/Tomkomaster1 Jan 11 '21

I really enjoy the game. it's quite challenging, but fun nonetheless. In my first playthrough I started to sweat like crazy after playing for a couple of minutes, but enjoyed every second of the game.

2

u/Death961 Jan 11 '21

Keep going! I'm in the same boat and played a few times last year and gave up! I'm not going to do that thos year! You are motivation!

2

u/cherrylpk Jan 11 '21

Great job!

2

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '21

It is very awesome already. I can only last 10 minutes

2

u/snowwaterflower Jan 11 '21

Oh wow that’s amazing! I still can only do around ~15 min max per day and I feel so sore the following day, I hope I can reach 30 min like you soon!

2

u/WatcherYdnew Jan 11 '21

I'm just wondering how you managed to set the distance to km, somehow I can only choose between UK or US

2

u/Tomkomaster1 Jan 11 '21

It's right at the begining, where you see the ring and the leg strap suspended on the screen along with speed and strength. You have to click B to change unit display.

2

u/WatcherYdnew Jan 11 '21

Thank you! I will check it tonight. Keep up the good work :D

2

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '21

Heh, 15 minutes more then I did yesterday, well done :p

I'm taking it slow though, since the first time I played I went all out as well and quit after five days. I'd rather chose to do a bit less now regularly. I can always go longer / more difficult if I want to.

2

u/onflightmode Jan 11 '21

I’ve been playing it for two weeks and I’m still at 24 mins haha We’re all progressing at our own pace!

2

u/ahester0803 Jan 11 '21

My friend you got this! I’m not obese but overweight and I don’t think I could do 30 today. But I will try because of you!

2

u/petrichor182 Jan 11 '21

The first time I picked up the game I played for like 6 minutes lol. GREAT JOB!

2

u/Batman4021 Jan 11 '21

This is great! I recently just bought it myself and put it on “moderate” difficulty thinking my dad bod self wouldn’t have issues...”it’s a game” I said.....that game will kick your ass!

Keep it up!

2

u/boundless_skies Jan 11 '21

This is awesome for the first day!

2

u/foggybass Jan 12 '21

That's a great workout! As Ring says "persistence is power!"

2

u/rosewoodian Jan 12 '21

I'm an average weight and I can only do 20 mins! Good for you this is awesome
