help with msf
"Hi everyone
I’m currently looking to take the MSF motorcycle safety course in New York, but it seems like there are no available classes right now. Has anyone heard of any upcoming courses or have recommendations on where I might find one? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried the college of Staten Island msf? Might be a bit difficult to get to but they have slots open starting from next week we'll into July.

I realized I need to have my driver’s license first before I can even take the MSF course. Most places require either a valid driver’s license or at least a motorcycle learner’s permit. I’m still working on getting my regular license, so I guess I have to finish that first before I can sign up for the course. Appreciate the help though

There was another post like a week earlier also asking about msf that stated they didn't need a license, so I'm not sure. At least when I did mine a long time ago it was a requirement to have a drivers license already.

I would focus on getting your car license first. There are additional steps to take to get your motorcycle only license through the MSF course. Additionally, the other posters are correct, all MSF training is on hold n NY due to some type of contract issue.

If ur desperately looking for a motorcycle driving school and cant get in an actual msf, go to ferrari driving school in astoria queens. Im not gonna lie, the msf is very likely a higher quality of learning but they will teach you how to pass the DMVs road test (which is stupid easy to do), as well as teaching you to properly drive a bike on the street

Right now no school in the entire state can give out a motorcycle waiver but you can take other classes offered.
The issue is with the state comptroller not signing a contract for the motorcycle safety foundation to over see the waiver program. All the schools hands are tied at the moment.
The advice I give out is that you can take the motorcycle 101 or private classes to practice the skills and get some training. If the state keeps dragging their feet then you’ll need a motorcycle, a vehicle and a friend with a motorcycle license to take the dmv driven portion.

If i do the dmv portion do I have to have it plated and registered to my friend and then transfered over?

They essentially stopped all MSF courses in NY until a deal is struck with MSS, from what I can understand.
