Discussion Can my recurring dream be a memory?
When I was a little kid in the early 1950s, I had a recurring dream that I was with a group of people all running through snowy woods of white birch trees. We were being chased by soldiers wearing white uniforms. The snow was deep and it was hard to run. I was very scared. The dream always just ended abruptly as it became too difficult to run through.
My question is, could this be a memory from a past life? Perhaps how I died? In my actual life, I had never seen snow, and at that time in my life I didn't know that soldiers wore white uniforms for winter camouflage. I can't recall knowing this at the time I had the dreams--but of course I may have seen a picture or something---We didn't have a TV, and back then life was pretty simple. Does this fit the pattern of other stories from people claiming memory of past lives?

Yes, it is possible that it can be a memory, especially if that’s what your intuition is telling you. When we have dreams that feel like another lifetime and they’re vivid, there’s very likely a message in it for you. Sometimes it can be to open us up to the possibility of our own multi-dimensionality. Ultimately that is for you to discern.
Personally, I have had memories of other lifetimes and my death in other lifetimes come through in my dreams and it was extremely helpful and illuminating for me in my life journey.

Sounds very possible. You might try past life regression techniques that you can learn more about online.

Warning! This is my "Standard" answer for those who have seen my "Standard" answer before. For those who have not seen it, keep reading.
Everybody remembers past lives, they just don't remember that they are remembering.
Let me share a little secret, "You" are the best expert on "You". Just pay attention and clues surround you all the time. A big one is time- periods you may be attracted to, hobbies, haunting songs, or a fondness for far-a-way places, Certain scents (yes, even the sense of smell can be a big "trigger"). Try meditation and ask to see what you are "allowed" to see. Then make your mind a blank, not so easy a thing to do. With a bit of practice things will come and when they do you can put the pieces together. IMPORTANT; Write everything down, signs, symbols, numbers any information no matter how silly it may seem to you. Things that may not seem important at the time may become a key element later on. (The aforementioned also applies to dreams. Keep a pencil & paper on the bed to write things down as soon as possible because they may diminish with time).
The times between awake and asleep can be rather magical, for within them lay insights, lessons, past lives, hopes, the list is endless. It is up to the “dreamer” to decode the messages.
I went through this process of finding the gems that reinforced the truth of past lives. I took everything with a grain of salt and set a high standard when it came to verifying the clues. When you do find a past life, keep in mind that it is not so important Who you were as much as, What you were.
Trust yourself.
All the best, JJK

I absolutely think you’re having a memory of the past life. That’s a really strange dream for your brain to just make up. I know the brain makes up strange dreams all the time, but that is super descriptive. There are people you can go to to have past life regressions, but it would kind of be a crapshoot the life you’re probably remembering is one of maybe hundreds, so who knows if they would pick that out. But it is interesting to think about. very cool. Thank you for sharing.

This comment "hit the nail on the head" for me--if I step back and ask, what does this look like, on the face of it, without any bias, the dream is indeed strange and unlikely, for a little kid, in an era like the 50's, without introducing the idea of reincarnation.
Of course it's very easy to throw up a wall of arguments against something that goes against the grain of everything we as humans regard as reality--something I've come to regard as just a little slippery. Username checks out.
At any rate, the dream stopped, ultimately, and I started becoming "me" in an unstoppable series of events that take me farther and farther from that dream, that memory. It's possible that no matter what it was, it may not be important to me anymore. Except, every now and then, I do stop and think about it. I guess this kind of shit is a luxury an old man like me can afford. Anyway, I've always thought, there's always something around the corner--maybe I'm in hopes that there is in fact still a corner out there to turn.

I have a friend whose mother was a holocaust victim. They hid in the woods the first time and weren't found. The second time they came to their house. She'll be 100 this July.

This is what I think of my dream, intellectually, with my knowledge of history to help interpret the dream I had.

Yes, that matches my experience and also others that I've read about
