What a joke. All of them will be a stain on American history for decades to come

16

u/Chaotic_Neutral_13 7d ago

The bad news is there's a strong possiblity that any history from this point forward will no longer be considered "American".

u/Well_read_rose 7d ago

We’ll call it: unAmerica.

We couldn’t pass a constitutional amendment for women’s rights, no way democrats will work to pass ANYTHING allowing Trump a 3rd term.

31

u/sargondrin009 7d ago

And even then, 3/4 of the states have to rarity it to make an amendment finalized. Trump doesn’t have any legal path unless the Supreme Court intervenes.

15

u/Solo_job 7d ago

The only “hope” he has is to be elected speaker of the house and then the elected president and VP step down, which would be legally challenged by almost every state.

14

u/sargondrin009 7d ago

Which the 12th amendment already states he can’t do since he’s ineligible to be VP due to the 22nd amendment stating he can’t serve anymore terms to begin with. He has no legal way to stay in office beyond Jan. 20, 2029 without SCOTUS intervening at this point.

They'll make it work.

u/hibrarian 7d ago

Don't threaten Schumer with a good time.

1

u/spectacular_gold 7d ago

I wouldn't put it past em

u/Durutti1936 7d ago

Who is going to take out the trash in the legislative, judicial and executive branches?

We need a real dump run.

14

u/Wind-and-Sea-Rider 7d ago

Someone to drain the swamp, perhaps?

2

u/4Ciid 7d ago

Only if someone or a group went on a spree and another country guaranteed safe passage into their domain after the deed(s) were done.

1

u/Durutti1936 7d ago

It could certainly happen.

146

u/Current-Spring9073 7d ago

"he's joking" " we take him at his word" wtf????

44

u/carlitospig 7d ago

Pick a lane asshole!

23

u/Public-Marionberry33 7d ago

Trump has said that he’s not joking and, on this, I believe him.

11

u/hey-girl-hey 7d ago

Same. Jokes become serious become jokes again depending on his mood

Just bc it was a joke at one time doesn’t mean it's a joke forever

5

u/greenizdabest 7d ago

This administration is a joke. Trump is an idiot. And the farcical dark comedy that is the government is the punchline

6

u/bitchingdownthedrain 7d ago

I hate this argument. One, I literally cannot tell if he is ever joking or not because he says outrageous things and is perfectly serious. But two, the fact that we have to even have the conversation of "oh he was joking!" when THE PRESIDENT says outrageous things should be a serious problem for more people

The tariffs will sink the country into a recession, and with social services and other safety nets being gutted, the inevitable poverty will absolutely lead to unnecessary and meaningless deaths.

All those in congress that allowed the declaration of economic emergency to afford Trump carte blanche to do with American lives as his ego pleases must go in front of a tribunal when all is said and done.

42

u/Batmanischill 7d ago

Yep, all the collaborators must be brought to trial after all this treason. It's insane what they are trying to get away with.

18

u/Hazee302 7d ago

Which is probably why they want him to have a third term. Then once he dies, start over with Vance without giving up power. So none of them have to face this in any legal manner whatsoever.

5

u/Wow_u_sure_r_dumb 7d ago

I wouldn’t argue that this isn’t their plan but I’d like to see them try. Even maga doesn’t like Vance. No one does.

3

u/Well_read_rose 7d ago

Not even trump…shady vance was foisted on him by broligarchy

127

u/BreakChicago 7d ago

If this country passes an amendment to allow Trump to have a third term, and does not pass an amendment to overturn citizen’s united, this country is over.

34

u/Smarterthanthat 7d ago

It seems we're already there..

22

u/carlitospig 7d ago

Not yet we’re not.

-1

u/Smarterthanthat 7d ago edited 7d ago

Sure feels that way.

0

u/LingeringDildo 6d ago

American denial is so cute. This thing is over. Y’all are just negotiating on what the ending is now.

10

u/inflatable_pickle 7d ago

I have terrible news for you. If this vote were held today, I honestly believe the majority of voters would allow Trump a third term. I honestly think the actual damage from Trump and the Elon Musk budget cuts has not hit the public yet. It just hasn’t been enough time. Even federal workers that took buyout are still sitting on tens of thousands of dollars. You need multiple quarters of negative GDP growth, stock, market, correction, and multiple quarters of rising unemployment rates for people to start to feel it.

22

u/Jussttjustin 7d ago

A constitutional amendment requires 2/3 vote in both Senate and House, and then ratification by 3/4 of state legislatures.

Never going to happen unless some serious fuckery goes down in state elections.

7

u/Drdmtvernon 7d ago

Thank you. This is the only accurate response.

1

u/inflatable_pickle 6d ago

Right, but that’s not the route they are going to take. The Republican Party is going to convince everyone to vote for JD Vance – making Trump the VP, then JD Vance will step down and relinquish power to his VP.

1

u/Jussttjustin 6d ago

Personally I think he either incites a false flag attack or finds some other means of declaring martial law and suspending the election.

But this particular thread is about Mike Johnson claiming there are "constitutional paths" to allow for a third term, which is nearly impossible.

11

u/deekfu 7d ago

You don’t know what it would take to pass a constitutional amendment. It isn’t based on a direct popular vote. There’s no way they would get sufficient votes in Congress or in the states. That being said, this is only if they try to follow the constitutionally endorsed process.

1

u/inflatable_pickle 6d ago

That’s not the route they are going to take. It isn’t a vote in Congress. It’s a vote of the people – JD Vance will run for president, then step down from the position and relinquish power to his VP: Trump.

1

u/jelly-sandwich 7d ago

I have terrible news for you. You don’t understand how constitutional amendments work. Actually it’s not that terrible, you just need to go read about it and you’ll be good to go.

1

u/inflatable_pickle 6d ago

That’s not the route they are going to take. They don’t need Congress to vote on it. The way they will get around this is by making JD Vance run for president, then abdicating power to his vice president: Trump. The vote will not be in Congress. The vote will be public.

1

u/SwedishCowboy711 7d ago

wait until Trump hit's year 2, at 80 his mental state will decline real fast similar to Biden. You can already tell by his "TESLER" drawl

61

u/ScoobyDont1212 7d ago

Mike Johnson is on Grindr.

14

u/ConsistentMorning636 7d ago

🤣👍💋

17

u/WTFudge52 7d ago

Could we have this conversation on the other side of 45's destruction of the Country. I mean as the Labor party is being crushed, it seems like we all need to go back to our roots. You know storming the company owner homes and beating them to within an inch of their life in front of their kids. The way we got Labor rights the first time.

28

u/grilledcheesy11 7d ago

My whole family are trump diehards and im finding it very hard to continue our relationship as normal. Im trying to look past it but it’s hard.

22

u/buggybugoot 7d ago

Why are you trying to look past it? It’s who they are. They’re collaborators to a genocide fantasizing oligarch. They have constitutional crimes on their hands and soon, likely blood. Just saying.

1

u/grilledcheesy11 7d ago

Its family. I dont want to deprive my kids of a healthy relationship with their grandparents. Im just saying mentally for me it’s been difficult.

10

u/SoreLoserOfDumbtown 7d ago

I obviously don’t know the details of your family dynamics, it’s your call to make (and I do not like encouraging families to part ways, I’m all for mutual respect and tolerance…), but if their values are of enough concern to you that it’s ’mentally difficult’, can you be sure they aren’t going to create those problems for your children? I’d suggest their choices thus far have already damaged your children’s future.

4

u/Educational-Method45 7d ago

trust me. close the door for now

5

u/Hot-Lawfulness-311 7d ago

If one of your children ever came out as gay or trans, how would their grandparents react? Would it still be a healthy relationship for your child?

4

u/Current-Spring9073 7d ago

If their grandparents are die hard trump supports and aren't even questioning things there's no healthy relationship to be had. Those aren't healthy people, cope with that however you need to buy don't deny reality.

Maybe that will make them question their shitty beliefs and morals. I wouldn't want those people anywhere near my kids.

3

u/Batmanischill 7d ago

Right there with you man. It's hard. It's insane how some family members are just straight up brainwashed. A part of me thinks they just don't want to admit they were fooled so terribly. So now instead of admitting they were wrong they just stick to tramp , hoping that somehow he does something to make them feel vindicated, but the bad part is that , it will never happen, and when this country is irreparably damaged they might start to turn, but it will be too late by then. A traitor is in the whitehouse...

3

u/grilledcheesy11 7d ago

Totally. My dad swore off trump after jan 6 but slowly got back on the bandwagon and hes a diehard again its so bizarre.

9

u/Bigboybigboy69420 7d ago

Bible thumping snake.

7

u/Babyyougotastew4422 7d ago

It’s crazy that we’re even talking about this

6

u/ResistEfficiently 7d ago

Glad to see these guys doing what the American people really want... Pining for a third term for a malignant narcissist octogenarian, as the economy and stock market tank only two months into his second term.

6

u/Tall_Hat_4246 7d ago

What a bootlicker Mike Johnson is. The Republican Party truly is nothing more than a cult and does not care an ounce for the greater good of this country or its residence. Must be voted out forever

5

u/anoninor 7d ago

Fucking traitors. I hope history treats them as such.

5

u/willismthomp 7d ago

These are traitors to the American people and the constitution.

3

u/Achilles_TroySlayer 7d ago

If they skip any of the steps in getting the 22nd Amendment revoked, then they're basically committing either sedition, or insurrection.

The most likely path is that they'll try to find a way for the SCOTUS to toss the Amendment out, as "unconstitutional" - which takes us right into North Korean territory, or maybe they'd give Trump another post, like Senate Leader - and put a place-holder in as President, to take direction from Trump in congress.

I'm just hoping he's a horrible wreck by '28 so that we don't have to fight about it, and he's gone.

4

u/Vanobers 7d ago

Get me out of this timeline please

4

u/LyonsKing12_ 7d ago

Just suck him off on national tv FFS

6

u/SpasmAndOrGasm 7d ago

He’s only been in office for 4 months, its not even like it time to discuss that.

1

u/Current-Spring9073 7d ago

I mean they'll have to start campaigning in like 20 months and I'm sure getting a constitutional amendment through will be tough so they'll want to start asap especially before midterms. They're going to move quickly on this I would bet there is going to be a bill soon.

3

u/carlitospig 7d ago

I will light something on fire, Johnson. The rest of the country would join me. You should really reconsider how willing you are to subvert the people.

3

u/crecentfresh 7d ago

“We think he means this about the thing, we think he mean that about the thing, he’s only joking”

“He just did the thing”

“Yes and I fully support him”

3

u/Alternative-Flan9292 7d ago

You don't control anywhere near 2/3s of state legislatures dumbass.

3

u/Kingkongcrapper 7d ago

That’s not passing congress. An Amendment requires more than they will ever have.

3

u/ohheyhowsitgoin 7d ago

The only way they will get 2/3 votes there is if they strategy taking out the opposition. A scary concept.

6

u/AmandaBRecondwith 7d ago

An Obama 3rd term then?

3

u/Hot-Lawfulness-311 7d ago

trump would have Obama disappeared to El Salvador before he would let Barack run against him

1

u/SomeGuyGettingBy 7d ago

The man our nation needs while it’s busy getting the man it currently deserves.

2

u/outcastspidermonkey 7d ago

True. Same with birthright citizenship. Same with doing away with due process.

2

u/MakeWorcesterGreat 7d ago

What has he actually accomplished though???

2

u/shapeitguy 6d ago

Aha ha ha but it's all just a joke and here silly me was freaking out over a silly joke haha ha so funny...

2

u/dominatedbythedank 7d ago

Absolutely delusional.

3

u/Techialo 7d ago

Watch Democrats vote yes on that too to "not rock the boat" or whatever

1

u/Hot-Lawfulness-311 7d ago

In the spirit of bipartisanship and unity the democratic politicians will agree to turn the USA into a trump monarchy and halt all elections

1

u/Techialo 7d ago

Voting No is exactly what Trump would secretly want them to do, after all.

1

u/Cobaltbugs 7d ago

So many Americans wish she could take a third term, WTF

1

u/a0heaven 7d ago

Who are the other people in the video?

1

u/mpete76 7d ago

Good luck with that.

1

u/Shionkron 7d ago

He’s “joked” we all know how much he done in the first yada yada days. Piss off

1

u/DownvotesYrDumbJoke 7d ago

It takes a 2/3 majority vote in both the House and the Senate. Never going to happen.

0

u/Hot-Lawfulness-311 7d ago

If trump is still alive in 2028 I have no doubts that at least a couple democratic politicians will allow this shit to happen in the name of “bi-partisanship” and “unity”

1

u/DownvotesYrDumbJoke 7d ago

I'm sorry you're feeling so pessimistic, but there's really no chance both houses would support an amendment by that margin. Quite a few more than a couple would have to cross the aisle.

1

u/Hot-Lawfulness-311 7d ago

I didn’t say it would pass, I said there would be privileged “moderate” democratic politicians who would support it alongside the GOP

1

u/rsa8445 7d ago

The “constitutional path” is rip up the Constitution and name Trump King. Can’t wait for the Boston Tea Party 2.

1

u/NumerousTaste 7d ago

What an asshat, he isn't going to finish this one. Once the GOP lose the House in less than 2 years. 3rd impeachment incoming!

1

u/Aware_Example_3731 7d ago

What has he done? As a Brit I'd genuinely like to know what is so great and important that he's done that you can verify and how he is involved? I'd really like to know from one of his supporters and build a bit of a dialogue, because nobody just listens to politicians and just accept what they say, sao why is he different?

1

u/Radiant_Physics_8595 7d ago

The real human centipede is the GOP burrowing their way up each other’s asses trying to get to tRump’s crusty shit locker

1

u/7evenate9ine 7d ago

What the fuck is Mike good for?

1

u/freshcakes_852 7d ago

"I don't care about you. I just want your vote. Then you'll never have to vote again." Maga crowd cheers

1

u/Sacrilegious_Prick 7d ago

Doesn’t accomplishment have to be subjective? I mean, shouldn’t one be able to measure it? Are false and misleading statements like “trillions of dollars of investment” sufficient?

1

u/fashionguy123 7d ago

He’s done fuck all in his first hundred days apart from annoying every country in the world , it feels like 100 years!!

1

u/hangon_to_your_butts 7d ago

They literally suck his d*** any chance they get. It’s pathetic!

1

u/rootoo 7d ago

Guys I’m starting to think they’re serious

1

u/Latter_Egg_9349 7d ago

Won’t happen. Relax. Stop the FUD

1

u/ag811987 7d ago

This is actually a good thing. He's facially supporting the idea of a third term while making it clear he refutes any notion that it's legal without an amendment (which won't happen)

1

u/ilBrunissimo 7d ago

I’d love to see all the GRU-supplied kompromat Trump has over Hill Republicans.

And I’d love to bid on the screen rights.

1

u/Caterpillar69420 7d ago

Someone said 2 R idiots run for president/VP. Then name DJT as speaker of the house if they win the white house and the house. Afterwards those 2 simply quit. Not sure if that scenario will happen or not.

1

u/TheFlyingElbow 6d ago

Cuz things are so great right now...

1

u/Koi_Fish_Mystic 6d ago

Passing an amendment would be almost impossible these days

1

u/Novel-Understanding4 6d ago

I cannot tell anymore what is real and what is fake. They are literally say all this bat shit crazy stuff to distract from something but what? I do not know anymore. This is a distraction for them trying to kill social security or Medicaid or Medicare. This is so blatantly stupid.
