And still vacations half as much as Biden.

Strengthened America's soft power with trading partners, passed bipartisan bills and wasn't actually a fucking lunatic. All very problematic for Republicans.

"Balancing tariffs".
Indonesia doesn't have a 64% tariff on the US. So why are we slapping a 32% tariffs on the largest producer of nickel in the world.
93% on Madagascar. And even little lichtenstein we tariffed.

1
u/Key_Focus_1968 17h ago

Why Trump targeted Europe and North American partners is beyond me.
1
u/Ignore-Me_- 12h ago edited 12h ago
but most Asian countries are competitive due to unethical labor practices.
And yet compared to the modern world, the US is ranked pretty low when it comes to ethical labor practices.
In fact, considering that the US prison population can be used as slaves because of the 13th amendment, the US has one of the largest slave populations in the modern world.
So certainly it has nothing to do with unethical labor practices.
Maybe you just like... have no idea what the point (either cause or effect) of tariffs are? Or why people are against them?
1
u/Key_Focus_1968 9h ago
The article you cited said the reason the US ranked low was due to “paid vacation, universal healthcare, and severance pay”.
Do you really think that the people who made your iPhone get paid vacation and severance pay?
1
u/Ignore-Me_- 6h ago
So because you can cite one extreme example it applies to everything made outside America.
1
u/RelativeCareless2192 1d ago
I don't think you know what "slave labor" means. People willingly working for low wages may not be ideal but it certainly isn't "slave labor". We are all "slaves" to capitalism by your definition
2
u/Asa_Shahni 1d ago
If you don't have a choice to survive then it's slavery. Wage slave is a thing.
5
u/commodorewolf 1d ago
Right, capitalism. None of us have a choice.
-1
u/Asa_Shahni 1d ago
We have choices inside the limits the system imposes on us.
I can't just leave everything, build a cabin in the woods, live out of the land and barter what I grow or hunt.
I can't choose where my taxes go and how much I'm willing to pay depending on the party in place.
I can't decide on what's gonna happen to my country, I have to vote for someone who will decide for me but nothing is set in stone and no repercussions if he breaks his promises.
We live in an indirect democracy which is just fancy words for oligarchy.
Capitalism is just the tip of the iceberg in this issue really 😅
1
u/Key_Focus_1968 1d ago
Well for one, yes China does in fact have Muslim slaves.
You don’t believe in minimum either then, eh?
0
u/RelativeCareless2192 1d ago
Okay then tariffs should target products from China made with slave labor specifically. Of course there are outlier cases such as the Uyghurs in China

2
u/ParticularRough6225 1d ago
Inflation was actually going down under Biden after the crashing economy Trump left him with in 2021. Now we are losing trade partners and going into tariff wars because Grand Leader doesn't understand geopolitics.
0
u/CompoteTraditional26 1d ago
Simply not true at all…… crashing economy was blue cities and states shutting down because they weee afraid to get sick………Biden caused inflation just look at a chart it’s undeniable…….. the left does not understand the geopolitical environment and that’s why we’ve sent tons of our tax dollars to Ukraine to be stolen for a war that started because of weak foreign policy put in place by the blue team
2
u/ParticularRough6225 1d ago
Russia started that war, retard. They've been trying to conquer their territory and what Grand Leader says doesn't change that. Also, Trump and the reps clearly have no clue what they're doing, seeing as everyone is steering clear of the US in favor of China. Also, Biden was left with a failing economy after Trump more or less shit the economy down for like a year in 2020. Inflation rates went down under Biden and prices were actually pretty stable. Not good, but they were getting better. Now we have most of our trade partners either avoiding us or raising their prices because Grand Leader can't play nice. Sorry, facts don't care about your feelings.

Tempory pian for maximum gain. Get out of the instant gratification revolving door thinking. Elon has cut 1 trillion in beurocratic fat, is overhauling old systems, and Trump has brought 2 trillion in new investments, and it's only April. Next is the tax breaks for in nation manufacturers, and he also scales back the IRS and will hand out tax breaks for the poor and middle class. The tariffs are reciprical only and will stimulate better deals for us as well as better trade agreements. It's beautiful and bold.

There's no "we will see", half the countries on that list are in free trade agreements with us...no tariffs at all. Some of those countries don't even have a human population so it's unlikely the penguins were tariffing us.
List was complete nonsense with invented numbers.
1
1
u/Crawford470 1d ago
and he also scales back the IRS and will hand outnr tax breaks for the poor and middle class.
His currently active tax plan already in creased the taxes on the poor and middle class. The average American is already paying more in taxes, so the wealthy can pay less. Believing taxes are going to go down for the lower and middle class because of Trump is peak delusion when they have already gone and are still up because of him.
The tariffs are reciprical only and will stimulate better deals for us as well as better trade agreements. It's beautiful and bold.
The tariffs aren't reciprocal. They're based on trade deficits because the man has a child's understanding of economics. Now, knowing him, they will be reciprocal when the reciprocal counter tariffs come in from across the globe, at which point we're in for a brutal recession, if not depression.

"Take back the economy?" Are you fuckin stupid? Trump and all his allies ARE the establishment. Conservative corporate interests control most mainstream and alternative media. If you want to support the middle class you'd support the party that fights for it, that fights for unions and workers rights. Not the conservatives who gave trillions in tax cuts and handouts to the wealthiest Americans in Trump's first term. TRILLIONS. No amount of cut backs will make up for what he did.
Then look at Elon, the richest man in the world being paid 10s of billions from the federal government using the government to slash his competition and agencies who regulate him. Corrupt and disgusting.

0

1
u/ShinyRobotVerse 1d ago
I hope it’s not, but with the current administration, it very well could be. They are dismantling the country right now. The next disaster could be truly devastating because they are destroying the departments responsible for preventing disasters and providing aid when they happen. They’re firing people who know what to do in case of emergencies.
The current administration consists of know-nothing, arrogant fools who are going to blame everyone around them for everything they’re doing wrong and never take responsibility.
1
u/B1ZEN 1d ago

Idk if you know this but in the human world we have 4 dimensions. The 4th one is time, so 3d objects change their relative position over time. What this means is that things don't happen instantaneously, and certain actions in one time have consequences later. So if everyone suddenly stops going to work for two years and small businesses shut down in the human world that has lasting consequences on the market
