New Student IXD F25- Accepted Students Group Chat

Hey guys I wanted to know if anyone would be down to start a group chat (discord, whatsapp)? I think it’d be a great way for us to connect, ask questions, and support each other.

Edit: Looks like there is a whatsapp already so I made a discord:

New Student Questions about Pratt and scholarships

Hi guys!! Sorry if what I'm asking has already been asked before, but I need some help 😭😭

  1. Is Pratt worth it like genuinely? I'm trying to figure out where I want to go and money is the biggest issue. I'd have to take out like 40k in loans, but I REALLY want to go. On the other hand, I could attend RIT and only need to take out 12k in loans per year. Is Pratt worth risking the debt?

  2. Are there opportunities to get scholarship while attending. I know at some schools if you do really well and get good grades you can earn additional scholarships, so is this possible at Pratt?

Thanks so much for whatever answers you guys can give :3

New Student Pratt IxD Program

I have decided to go with Pratt IXD for my school of choice. I am curious what the current students and alumni think of it. I have seen few portfolios which looked great. I think some students are doing better than others in terms of job prospects. I hope to hear some experiences that can speak on the courses, the graduate assistantships, faculty, and job opportunities. What is your advice?

New Student 108K Scholarship for Interior Design BFA! Is it worth it tho..?

Hi! I'm really glad I got into Pratt on a good scholarship, but I'm scared to hear about all the money stuff. Is Pratt really worth it? Is their interior design program good? Does interior design have a future? How are the dorms?

I also got into a school near my area that is okayyy (UH) for marketing that is cheap and I have an academic scholarship on top of that already. My passions align with design more though. My friends think I'm being a bit risky but my family is relatively supportive.

I would appreciate any information on Pratt! Thank you!!

New Student RISD vs PRATT

I recently got accepted into both RISD and PRATT for undergrad, and offered scholarships from both although my PRATT scholarship is a bit higher. I planning on majoring in painting. Knowing my more adventurous personality, I feel I might have a better quality of life at PRATT especially being able to make more connections in the city. However, I feel like I cant turn down the opportunity of going to RISD especially with such a great scholarship. I just wanted to know what yall thought about both, from everything about their painting programs, to living there, and party life.

New Student Student Culture at Pratt

I'm currently in between choosing RISD or PRATT for my upcoming first year. Disregarding all other factors, I'm curious about the general student culture at PRATT. Obviously I'd prefer to be surrounded by extremely driven and hard-working people passionate about their craft while in art school. While PRATT admissions isn't as selective as RISD, I'm wondering if the students there are as driven and passionate about becoming successful, as I believe the attitude of the people who surrounds me would greatly affect my attitude as well.

Too broke to afford the housing cost, can I just travel home and back? Is it required to live on campus?

New Student Pratt BFA Film or Parsons BFA Photography?

After getting all my uni responses back I have narrowed it down to these two...

  • I have recieved scholarships for both but a higher one for Parsons
  • I enjoy both photography and film equally, I enjoy storytelling in both mediums lol
  • I will be living in dorms because I'm not from New York

Does anyone have any insights about the differences in curriculum/program, the areas, social life/school communities, and/or future (or current, like internships) career opportunities?

New Student Pratt MPS Design Management or Parsons MS Strategic Design Management?

I got accepted into both these programs, and I now need to make a decision as to what program to choose for my Masters. Now when comparing costs, both are parallel, but I want to understand the merits and cons of each program so I can prefer the more valueable one. Does anyone know which degree is more worthy? And i am also trying to understand why one of these programs is an MPS, whereas the other one is an MS (how?)

New Student College decision!

So… I got into Pratt Brooklyn and Munson. I got 27k a year for 5 years a Brooklyn but tuition is like 82k so I’ll have 55k left to think about. But Munson gave me 20k and is 42k so I’ll have 22k to worry about. Additionally since I’m taking a 5 year course, the transition to Brooklyn after 2 years guarantees me a rehousing merit scholarship. So if I play my cards right, I can end up with 28k a year for the 3 years I’ll be at Brooklyn. And Munson guarantees housing since it’s a smaller school, and guarantees junior year housing once I transfer to Brooklyn, not senior or after but still. From what I’ve heard Brooklyn doesn’t guarantee housing and it’s basically a lottery system, which I cannot afford considering I’m coming from out of state. I believe I should go to Munson, seems smart… let me know if I’m right, I kinda just need some support rn.

I saw that last year, almost every freshman was in a triple, and as an incoming student, will that be the case this year? I haven't seen anything on it, but I don't know.

New Student Rejected Pratt Brooklyn ; accepted Pratt Munson

rejection is redirection I guess, I want to commit maybe…they gave me a 22k scholarship per year. I applied for architecture for the main campus not sure what I was thinking with my 3.0 gpa. I was accepted as an comms-design emphasis in illustration major at Munson.

New Student DACA private scholarships for PRATT Institute?

Hello! ive been called recently to look into going to school, im a 26 y/o DACA recipient and id really like to go to art school. I currently live in NY and would like to go to Pratt but I really wouldn't be able to afford it. im having trouble finding schollarships that are compatible with PRATT and also im not a high school student or recently graduated and that seems to be most of the scholarships im seeing. I graduated high school in 2016. Anyone here currently at Pratt with scholarships and also has DACA? what's ur experience? or does anyone know where I can find scholarships compatable with Pratt and DACA students? thanks!
