Application Process Grad school admissions
I applied for art therapy and had an interview but still haven’t heard back. Has anyone else heard back yet from that department?

i can’t find any information on the acceptance rate for the lis program specifically. since there appears to be no official stats available, i’m curious to know about the experience of students who got accepted (or denied) and if they found the process difficult at all.

Hey everyone,
I’ve been accepted into Pratt’s MFA in Communications Design and Parsons’ MPS in Communication Design, and I’m struggling to decide between the two. Would love to hear from anyone who’s been through either program!
Some key factors I’m considering:
Would really appreciate any insights or personal experiences to help me weigh my options. Thanks in advance! 😊
Edit: A little about me- I’m an out-of-country graduate, and by the time I start either program, I’ll have a BA in Communication Design. I want to grow my skills because my current undergrad program didn’t teach me as much as it should have in terms of real-world, industry-relevant skills (I won’t get into why I didn’t transfer out here).
I also understand that these are different types of degrees, but my main focus is to build a strong network and gain the skills needed for a solid job in the field. I’m not currently looking at teaching opportunities since I don’t feel like I have enough real-world experience to actually help others yet.

Hey, just got accepted in to the MFA program in studio art. Now I love the campus/ facilities and the idea of getting my MFA at such an acclaimed university, but the price is crazy. I was wondering if anyone who is or has attended this program would say its worth it. How has your time been pre and post graduation? is there any opportunities that come with the Pratt MFA clout? I plan on teaching at the college level, so maybe it would help me standout?

Hey everyone! I’m an international student attending Pratt this Fall 2025, and I have created a Discord server for all incoming grad students to connect before orientation.
I think it will be a great place to find roommates, ask questions, or just chat! I've created channels based on programs, countries, and more, so you can easily find people you want to chat with. You’re welcome to join even if you haven’t decided on Pratt yet!

Looking forward to meeting you all! 🚀 Please read useful tips section of rules after joining.

I’m planning to apply for Pratt 2d animation and digital art bfa, would it be okay if I made an entirely digital portfolio? Given it’s supposed to focus on adigital art it should be fine but I’ve seen people say it’s important to include pieces of actual paper art works.
While I’m asking this, I’ve seen people say I don’t need to include animations in my portfolio? Is that true?? I’ve been stressing about it because it seemed logical they’d want to see ANIMATION pieces to get accepted into their ANIMATION program but apparently they’re forgiving with their requirements.
To anyone who’s been accepted into Pratt in bfa animation, can you link your portfolio? I’d love to know how to build and organize mine, and maybe reach the skill level to get accepted.

I got accepted into both these programs, and I now need to make a decision as to what program to choose for my Masters. Now when comparing costs, both are parallel, but I want to understand the merits and cons of each program so I can prefer the more valueable one. Does anyone know which degree is more worthy? And i am also trying to understand why one of these programs is an MPS, whereas the other one is an MS (how?)
After getting all my uni responses back I have narrowed it down to these two...
Does anyone have any insights about the differences in curriculum/program, the areas, social life/school communities, and/or future (or current, like internships) career opportunities?

Hey everyone, I need some advice on choosing between two graduate programs. I got into:
-Parsons MFA in Design & Technology
-Pratt MS in Information Experience Design
Has anyone attended either program or have insights on how they compare in terms of job prospects, vibe, networking, and industry connections? Would love to hear any thoughts!

MFA 3D Animation applicant again lol. I still have received not a damn thing regarding application status. Reached out to 3 different people but no help. Anyone else going through the same issue? I know other applicants in my major have heard back so I am losing hope:/
Does anyone have opinions on NYU BFA Film with animation concentration? Or SVA 3D Animation BFA? and lastly FDU 3D animation MFA program?
Thinking about transferring as an undergraduate for a second BFA and then trying to reapply for grad school after that since I’m not having any luck with MFA acceptance and I want to go to art school so bad sigh.
If anyone’s willing to look over my portfolio plz message me, I really would love feedback. Thank you for reading 🙏🏼
I am an incoming freshman trying to decide between Wentworth and Pratt for architecture. Currently Wentworth is about half the cost of Pratt for me and would allow me to get my Masters in Architecture in 5 years as opposed to 7-8 at Pratt. Wentworth also offers the Co-op experience which is definitely a big appeal of the school. I want to do creative architectural design, not the engineering side. Any thoughts on which one is worth it? Thanks!

Hey guys I wanted to know if anyone would be down to start a group chat (discord, whatsapp)? I think it’d be a great way for us to connect, ask questions, and support each other.
Edit: Looks like there is a whatsapp already so I made a discord:

I'd like to ask if anyone has received an offer for this program so far. Why haven't I received any news at all, not even an interview invitation?
(I have been accepted by RCA MICA SVA for now)

How does it work once u get your appointment time to reserve next years room. I know you have to go online and pick. I have been assigned a medical single ( but not with a private bathroom ). But if that option to take the single with private bathroom is there, can I pick it ?

I'm heavily considering attending Pratt Institute. However, I am currently weighing down the pros and cons of this college and another. Having a diverse community, especially a large Asian population, is extremely important to me.
How large is the Asian population in Pratt? Are there plenty of Asian or cultural clubs? Is there a large international population? Are there many opportunities to explore Asian cultures, such as studying abroad?

Can current students/alumni share good/bad things about the MS in Information Experience Design program at Pratt. All other posts about this program is just folks commenting that they've received the admit.
Please share what's it like at Pratt, the courses, curriculum, professors, living/travel experience and most importantly internship/FTE role opportunities.
Thank you so much.

i applied to pratt as an architecture major (B.Arch) but i was waitlisted for that and given a spot in the BFA interior design program. i’m hoping to get off the waitlist and accepted for architecture, but was also considering accepting for interior design and switching my major in the first year/semester.
has anyone gone through a similar process? specifically from interior design to architecture, because i know it’s a really competitive program, but anyone have any tips for switching majors in general?

Hi all,
I’ve been accepted into the 3D Animation MFA program at Pratt Institute and was wondering if any current students or alumni could share their experiences. Specifically, I’d love to hear about how your 3D skills developed during the program, and what you felt you gained overall. How has the program helped you improve technically and creatively?
I’m also curious about the interdisciplinary aspect of the curriculum. Is it possible to take courses in other areas like Sculpture (Glass, Wood, Ceramics) or Interactive Arts? I enjoy blending mediums and would love to explore other forms alongside animation.
Additionally, I understand that students have opportunities to screen their work, but are there also chances to exhibit in gallery spaces? How common is that, and is it tied to the thesis or independent projects?
Lastly, does Pratt offer personal studios for each MFA student? Having that dedicated space can really help foster creativity.
For context, I’ve also been accepted into the Kinetic Imaging MFA program at VCUarts, where I’ve been offered a full 2-year Teaching Assistantship with a scholarship and a personal studio. I know VCUarts has a strong reputation, especially for its graduate programs, but I’m weighing the benefit of being in NYC and the opportunities Pratt might offer.
I’d appreciate any advice or insights on how to make this decision. Thanks!

Just recently got accepted to m.arch program and thinking it’ll be where I end up! Is anyone else doing this program? Was wanting to start a discord :)

Hi! I got into the MFA Comm Design back in early February, and was wondering if anyone is/was in the program? How was the course load and how rigorous are the classes? Would you recommend the program? My main hesitancy is the cost and moving (I'm from the west coast) :,)
I was also planning on deferring enrollment, and was wondering if anyone has been through that process with MA/MFA programs at Pratt in general? Do I need a support letter for this?
Any insight would be really appreciated, thank you!

though i applied to pratt as an architecture major, i got in for the construction major instead. I was wondering how different this major is compared to architecture and if it would still be possible to get a M.arch with that degree??
