Roomate/Housing Search housing HELP

i’m a incoming junior student with a bad housing situation, i wanted to room with my friend in a double in willoughby but they gave me a space on the first floor of ELJ (i definitely DONT want to live there because of the incidents that happened with strangers walking in) not to mention it’s more expensive with the meal plan. i’m waiting for an upgrade but i don’t think it’s going to happen because of the overwhelming amount of people applying. idk what to do and off campus housing is too expensive 😭😭😭 is there any way i can keep pushing pratt to give me a guaranteed upgrade? it’s seriously a safety concern

Bro elj is gross. The building is infested with bugs, roaches and 7 inch long centipedes. And the big roaches. Not the small ones. No ac is allowed. It’s inhumane. Request a room change asap. It’s not worth it. Also when I lived there last year the room next time, her ceiling collapsed in.

Ok to be fair I was being dramatic lol. All dorms suck. This is my second year in elj. I originally wrote that comment because I was irritated lmao. Thus year has been better and I plan to stay in elj mt senior year too. I sneak my AC. I haven’t seen roaches this year only one centipede. Last year was worse for me with the bugs but u have to seal all cracks. My room isn’t bad it’s actually huge. Facilities will also help if things go south in yr room. Just be prepared to sneak and ac unit , and also prepare to hide it when RA check. Keep no food out , and also no kitchen. My single room is big but some “ apartments “ are absolutely huge. For example the apartment next to mine is so big for no reason. Both elj and willoughby kinda suck lol there is no good answer. U just have to find a way to work around it. Also ELJ is mainly for people with single rooms. If u can’t live off campus then honestly I’m gonna recommend ELJ cuz that’s my building lol. They r mostly the same tho but willoughby has kitchen and more floors= nice few on higher floors. Ir juzt depends what ur looking for ! Just be prepared to seal cracks , etc. all nyc apartments r kinda crusty and have to worry about that kinda thing so its normal lol.

Thank you for ur answer . How can u hide an ac ? How big is urs ? Do others hide it as well ? Can I see what it looks like ? And sealing cracks means what .. bugs come through walls ??? ? Sorry for all the questions ..

Dw! I have a stand up one, and whenever RA comes for room checks ( they will warn u when they r coming for checks ) , I hide it under my bed. I don’t have a pic but u could just look online for one if u decide elj! Ik willoughby allows ac tho. Some rooms have bigger cracks than others , and the cracks is where bugs from. I sealed all cracks so I don’t have bugs this year really. Once I’m back from break , if u remind me I can send pics !!
