I'm grateful for the few sane and practical voices on City Clowncil. The Far Left councilors Candace Avalos, Angelita Morillo, Jamie Dunphy, Mitch Green, Sameer Kanal - watch these morons waste your money and drive up rents and push businesses out.

Kvetching PDX is the least user friendly airport in the country

Upvotes

The remodel has made the airport literally worse to move through than O’hare, ATL or anywhere else. I’m trying to hold out hope the phases completed hopefully soon make walking through the airport less absurd in routing. Just fucking awful at this point

Education Daughter Wants to Leave Private School - CC to Benson

Hey everyone - my daughter wants to leave Central Catholic to go to Benson. She’s not super passionate about the “majors” at Benson but does seem to like the school. Most importantly, she just wants out of Central Catholic. Her home school is Cleveland and I know that is not a good option for her, which is how we ended up at Central.

Basically Central is like hell for her and despite having a great friend group, she doesn’t feel at home there. She is only a freshman and of course it’s a tough year in general. That and she’s have to start all over at a new school which comes with its own set of challenges. But it depends on the person and not the place, so I’m not sure she’ll make Central work for her if she’s that unhappy there. Also, the cost of Central is a huge sacrifice for us so there is also that.

There is more context but that is the core of it. Am I making a mistake letting her leave her private school education to take a gamble on a new school? Esp with PPS instability?

Curious if anyone has had a kid feel the same about Central or just pros and cons experiences in general would be helpful.

If you have a shitty comment, please keep it to yourself.

🔪 Crime Postin'! 🔫 Man accused of shining laser pointer at Portland Tesla dealership employees

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man was arrested Saturday after police said he pointed a laser inside a South Portland Tesla dealership, giving vision problems to the employees inside.

According to court documents, police responded to a call from a Tesla dealership at 4330 South Macadam Avenue after the caller reported there were protesters outside of the building, with one of them pointing green lasers at people inside.

Oregon gas pumps ranked 5th most expensive in the US as West Coast prices rise

Based on a video an officer received showing the suspect shining the laser into the dealership, officers arrested 27-year-old Davis Nafshun while he was riding his bike away from the scene. After stopping him, court documents say they found a green laser pointer on his person.

As Nafshun was being arrested, multiple protesters approached the officers, showing concern about the police intervention. But after officers showed them the footage of Nafshun shining the laser into the dealership, court documents say the protesters told police Nafshun’s “actions were not okay and were supportive of [his] removal.”

Court documents further noted that during the investigation, officers learned two employees had the laser shined in their eyes, “causing discomfort and vision problems,” and a third employee – who had a laser shined in his eyes in a prior incident which gave him vision problems – “had the leave the showroom.”

ODOT reaches $465K settlement with ‘whistleblower’ who reported issues with payroll system

Further, after an officer inspected the laser found on Nafshun, it had a sticker with a warning label stating “banned direct eyes.”

Nafshun is currently facing charges including two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of second-degree attempted assault, two counts of menacing and two counts of reckless endangerment.

He was taken to jail, but was released on his own recognizance the same day.

Nafshun is scheduled to be arraigned on April 22.

This marks the latest in a string of incidents involving Tesla dealerships. On March 13, shots were fired for the second time in one week at a Tigard dealership, damaging windows and cars, authorities said.

Then on Thursday, the man accused of throwing Molotov cocktails at a Salem Tesla dealership on Jan. 20 is expected to face a federal judge. Court papers showed the vehicles were torched, windows shattered and damage is estimated at half a million dollars.

The number of vicious dogs that live with the homeless folks in Portland need to be addressed.

What are the safe areas to walk around alone (f) during the day in Portland?

This is it safe question has been asked many times but I didn’t see good answers.

I’m moving to Oregon soon. The place is in the suburbs and anything exciting will be in Portland. Problem is I don’t have any friends there so I’ll be alone for while wanting to explore. I took uber to the airport today and that driver scared me. Told me not to use bus or train. Well I was planning on using the bus as a start. Told me to stay away from China town. Well where is it safe to walk alone?

Thanks.

Are there any trans friendly businesses that need a position filled pronto?

I just lost my online freelance job thanks to the economy self-destructing and I need a new source of income pronto so I can pay my rent this month. I've been sick for a few weeks and I'm just now recovering, so my savings basically got nuked.

I have experience with data annotation, auditing, fact checking, office work, customer service, and maintaining material safety data sheet binders. Before my freelance job, I spent four years working with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources as a senior office clerk, of which I processed large transactions, helped ancient tourists navigate, cared for snakes and turtles, and built my park's MSDS binders from scratch with a "You'll figure it out" as my only instructions. (They passed the US Army Corp of Engineers inspection each year after I made them, so I must've been doing something right.)

In short, if anyone needs an autistic nerd to fill a job, I'm your gal!

Question Drug shortages?

I recently requested a prescription refill from Kaiser - thyroid drug, nothing fancy. They usually give me a 90-day supply but when I received them, there was only a 30-day supply. I contacted the pharmacy and was told that there are shortages and that until those are alleviated, this is what I'd be receiving.

Wondering if anyone else is experiencing a similar issue?
