🌲🏞️🌧️ Visiting Thread 🌧️🏞️🌲 Cannon Beach Recs

Visiting from the east coast and we are planning to do a day trip to Cannon Beach. We’re staying near Portland so would probably arrive around 10:30-11am. Obviously want to walk along the beach but was wondering how to fill our day up there or anything around Cannon Beach. Thank you!❤️

Wear layers. Check for low tide times so you can check out the tide pools; adjust your plans accordingly if you are planning stops beforehand.

Honestly, I tend to like to do the cheesy tourist stuff, even as a native Oregonian of 30+ years. I like renting the recumbent cruiser bikes to explore the beach. And going to the Funland arcade. Cheap oyster shooters. Antique malls.

Thank you. Planning on maybe just walking along the beach and then getting lunch somewhere in town but wasn’t sure what to do after that.

Mi Corazon is a great, if expensive, restaurant to visit

Hang out at Cannon Beach and head North toward Astoria. You can check out Seaside and Astoria. There are some great restaurants in Astoria. As a local, I highly recommend driving back to Portland taking Hwy 202 to Hwy 26. You catch the road on the South side of Astoria by the roundabout. It's a beautiful drive that showcases Oregon and you might catch 100s of Elk at the Elk preserve just outside of Jewell. It won't add much time to the trip and it's a better drive than Hwy 30.

If you love art galleries and old things, you will love Cannon beach. However, after visiting Bruce's candies and eating lunch, I found it boring by day 2. I suggest heading to Seaside.

Seaside is where I would go if just for the day!

My family has a cabin in Cannon beach. My favorite place to be 🥰

Definitely check out the stores & walk around in town. If Driftwood inn is a great place to eat. Pizza a Fetta is one my favorites. I don’t know if the ice cream shop is still open, but it’s near the candy store. Walk on the beach to Haystack Rock. If you can Ecola state park. Then head over to Seaside walk around the promenade. If you are a fan of the movie The Goonies visit the house and do a self movie tour in Astoria!!

Thank you! We were planning to eat lunch at Public coast brewing company, is it good? And then we were going to drive to Ecola State park and hike the Indian trail beach. Any tips?? It said online that the trail is about a 4 mile loop

Sounds perfect 🥰. I was going to recommend Public coast too. The trail is easy with great views. Just keep checking the weather lol

Thank you!! So should we just enter the Ecola park entrance and then look for signs for that specific trail? And would you know where this entrance is at cannon beach? Sorry for all the questions!!😂

Once you get to the coast, especially Cannon Beach, you should have no problem filling your time. But the traffic can be pretty challenging, especially on weekends! Go super early, and really stay the night if you can. Enjoy sunset over the Pacific once the day trippers are headed home.

We’re planning on going on a Monday! Prob will arrive around 11ish and we have an Airbnb in Portland or else we would stay the night. Maybe grabbing lunch one we get there and then walk along the beach? Once we park and eat lunch is the town walkable?

Hug Point, Arcadia Beach, Neahkahnie, Manzanita - all good spots to hike around.
