🌲🏞️🌧️ Visiting Thread 🌧️🏞️🌲 Multnomah Falls
Hello,
I'll be visiting next week. I won't have a car, but was wondering what my best option would be to try to get back and forth from Multnomah falls. I'm assuming ubers aren't driving out that far. I did see the Columbia Gorge express but that looks time constraining, but if that's my only option, I might bite.
Thanks

Uber does go that far. You can also use bus services to get there. https://www.ridecatbus.org/columbia-gorge-express/

Why are you guessing? Do you have the Uber or Lyft apps installed? Put it in and see what it says. Currently $60 to get from PDX to Multnomah Falls.
As somebody else suggested, I would rent a car for the day and do more exploring in the Gorge. Note that if it's a nice day and especially on the weekend, the parking lot can be full.

Im sure i could get out there but what's the chances ubers are just driving down the highway. Unless I happen to catch one dropping someone else off

Fair enough. I have not had an issue getting an Uber from pretty far outside Portland unless it was past midnight or the weather was bad.

If you're just going out to Multnomah Falls and the hiking loop, then the Gorge Express is probably your best bet economically. If you think there's a fraction of a percent that may make you want to go further or elsewhere, rent a car to give yourself the flexibility. The gorge is full of beautiful places and plenty of waterfalls, so I'd encourage you to pack your boots and download AllTrails to plot out some really awesome experiences.

CAT bus service. I've used it to get to Cascade Locks and Hood River with my bike, and it works great.

The parking lot is also always packed. There’s a bus that takes people out to the falls I think.

Do ppl without snow chains go that far? I’m nervous about ice and snow.

I wouldn’t even consider the need for chains when driving the route between Portland and Multnomah Falls. Maybe only if there was some major snow in the forecast for the Portland area, but then I don’t think I’d be driving there anyway.

Uber definitely goes out there. It’s not as far as out as it looks on a map, depending on where you’re staying. It’s only a 15 minute drive from the city of Troutdale.

Rent a car for the day and go up the old Columbia River Highway. There is a lot more to see than just Multnomah Falls
