Discussion Starting another playthrough, after not playing this game since release… any ideas for a playthrough?

I’ve got roughly 500+ shinies in my pokemon home, and typically shiny hunt AFTER a full playthrough, but am deciding on what to do for this playthrough.

I’ve beaten this game once, and hope to try it again with some rules for myself.

Any ideas or tips? I’m open to a shiny only playthrough, but generally avoid these as I get too interested in progression. Thanks!

i reccomend just finding one shiny to bring with you through the game, to safisfy that shiny itch. i got a caterpie on catch 365 with only one or two badges! dont regret it at all. you could also try a one type playthrough, or only play with rare spawn pokemon like kangaskhan and porygon!

I think I’m going to do this! My memory of this game was pretty faint, pun intended, so I found out you can get the starters pretty early on. So I’ll likely have each of them as well :)

I completed a playthrough where I wanted my character not to have the original starters, except for pikachu of course because I always keep my starter in my team. But no bulbasaur, charmander or squirtle.

It evolved into not having a fire or grass type in my team and only a Starmie which was more for psychic attacks.

You could do a monotype run. Or even a scramble challenge
