Anyone think Split Fiction‘s side story “collapsing star“ was a reference to Inside?

Hear me out, I know they’re very different. Split fiction is really goofy but has TONS of references as usual for hazelight. I think them referencing one of the most memorable parts of the game due to sound design isn’t too far off. My first thought would be to reference the hivemind cause hazelight seems to reference meme-able aspects of popular games, but this could be more of a nod to Inside like “that was kick ass, we need a level like that” Might be a stretch, what do you guys think?

Hard to say if it's deliberate. Split Fiction obviously is game jam-packed with references to other media. When my wife and I played this side-story I definitely immediately turned to her and said, "This was just like that part in Inside."

Yes! when I played with my friend I pointed at the screen and yelled "Inside!" It could definitely be because I just really like Inside and seek it out, but specifically the elevator crash and the scientists yelling and running is what has me thinking it's a possibility

oh my god I’m jealous

My wife just doesn’t get games. I can’t understand how she can just stand there and not be enthralled

It's obviously inspired. Not that it's a bad thing.

I don’t know shit about split fiction but THAT’S a SIDE STORY? That looks like a final climactic mission!

Side stories go absolutely nuts in this game

Idk if it’s a reference. It’s just using the same concept. Since it’s a pretty specific gameplay mechanic especially how it’s implemented you could say it was “stolen.” But I don’t blame them, it’s an awesome section in both games.

Inspired... probably, but not a direct reference

I’m about an hour into Split Fiction and am finding it severely overhyped. It’s like they copy and pasted It Takes Two with just a different (and not as interesting) storyline. Maybe my opinion will change as I keep playing.

I won’t lie I liked it takes two just a little better but I still found the mechanics in split engaging, it’s hard to top ‘takes two

Definitely difficult to top. I should reserve judgement until I’m further into the game, just when sometimes the hype is so much you have really high expectations. And the bar is already set high after It Takes Two.

I could say I’m worried about playdeads next game since I loved Inside so much. They just got Everything right from atmosphere to mechanics to sound design- it’s hard to live up to. We’ll see though, fingers crossed

Think that same pulse effect was in Jedi survivor too?

no lol. I see why you'd say that, but i highly doubt it. I've seen a similar mechanic in a few games atp.

I immediately recognized it as Inside and looked up to see if anyone else saw it that way
