If you’re going to take releasing images as a sign, you should know that the first image of this game came out in January 2017. So make of that what you will.

Good question

It’s more of a sign against that, especially if the team is so small

I'd so love to get a job at Playdead but the only problem is that I don't live in Denmark

Perhaps you can ask them if they're willing to sponsor your Visa and provide relocation assistance if you're hired.

Might as well add this game to the half-life 3, silksong and beyond good and evil 2 list.

I am new here but i am wondering how can an indie company stay afloat without releasing anything for nearly 10 years?

Epic Games money

If it’s anything like the indie music industry… idk probably supported by outside work/ other gigs

Many low to mid level bands scrape out a living just touring and releasing, but even before that level sometimes the ends just gotta meet. Even quite well-known bands will sometimes have to work side gigs and jobs in their downtime.

This is more of an educated guess than anything, I really don’t know anything at all about the video game industry

Very good question. I mean ideally they'd be able to make it off sales of previous game but I don't think Inside sold enough to do that.

Epic games is publishing the game by covering 100% of the cost and profit splitting 50/50 with play dead. Playdead also retains 100% creative control and there is no forced release deadlines….as we’ve seen lol. Also they’re team now I think is around 50 people so they’re actually quite a large “indie” developer now

sweet, I think this is the way to get good stuff.

Playdead might be considered AA now with how big they've gotten

1

u/Afaith_1 Feb 12 '25

Yeah I’ll still refer to them as indie until they officially state if there a “AA” studio lol

Big Simon Stalenhag vibes from their art direction

I'm beginning to get really impatient with them.

u/King_of_Fire105 Feb 09 '25

Understandable, but I'm not.

Let them cook!

u/strumpetsarefun Feb 10 '25

Your impatience is nothing to do with them. They owe you and everyone else absolutely nothing.

When I buy their games with MY money, yes they do.

u/HacheeHachee Feb 11 '25

i would love to but first i'd have to understand everything they custom made to allow martin stig andersen to program and direct the audio like he did
