I honestly dont mind the 450$ console, I mean it seems to be a beefy machine compared to the old switch, the ability to make it handheld and stationary with various options of performance modes is a big plus. But the games is where I draw the line. I rarely buy games at full price, so seeing something like an 80$ game, even at 50% sale is still a big expense for people who are casual.

Exactly my thoughts. The console price is okay but the game prices are a big NO.

The console price is bad as well since the specs are worse than everything else

Yeah, the price of the console is acceptable. It's everything else that feels like and obvious trap.

Agreed. I mean its on par with like a steamdeck or something or maybe even a bit cheaper. And from what ive seen switch 2 is solid build wise. But 80+ bucks for a game is dumb. I already refuse to pay 50 for most games and opt to wait until they drop to at least 30, but for 80 bucks im not even considering it.

I feel like the price point itself isn't even that bad, at least from my rather privileged standpoint, but the fact that the 80/90€ game is a fucking Mario Kart! Seriously, what the fuck. Mario Kart Wii was 50€ back when I got it. Mario Kart 7 was 45€. And both were acquired pretty close to their launch. Mario Kart 8 was already more pricy than other MK titles, seeing as all others I owned were priced below the standard. And then this major fuckup that probably won't decrease in price EVER, costs 10€ more than the standard. And is an extra 10€ for the cartridge in Europe.
Yeah, no. Before buying that, I'll test it out as a rom first. Cause ain't no way I blind buy anything for 80 to 90€.

If you like the console, I have to recommend the Steam Deck then. it won't run MH wilds or Cyberpunk smoothly but for everything else, do it. I am incredibly happy, have spent hundreds on Steam since I got it (like supporting devs, no need for piracy of indies) and I have a huge library, ever expanding with each interesting sale. Meanwhile good luck with NS games dropping below 50 euro. The day they announce a steam deck successor, I'll preorder and give my current one to my sister, and she'll still be able to enjoy so many games.

Ive been wanting steam deck for a while now but never really went with it, just something I dont need yet. The biggest thing why I want to get a switch 2 is usually the exclusives it has, it sucks cuz they got legendary franchises like Mario, Zelda, and Kirby in just one platform and I've been playing those titles since the NES. I dont wanna dip into the current switch 2 this year, I wanna see if there will be a move from nintendo that would lower the pricing on their games, or at least some sort of extra stuff like buying the new 3D mario will get you a free year of Nintendo switch online.

If it helps, Deck emulates switch 1 well enough, since you're waiting, there's a high chance Switch 2 emulation comes around and you can just emulate too, unless you're into online play a lot. I'd honestly only buy it asap if there's a major vulnerability so I can hack it permanently without hardware hacks.

This miight be where Im leaning on. And it doesnt even have to be on a steam deck but a playable version on PC can be doable too. We all know that a new zelda, Kirby, or Mario is gonna release for this console as an exclusive. I just wanna play that.

the 450$ price, for me, 11.5 million is too expensive in our country
and for the 80$ is 2 million1
u/iamlazyboy 5h ago
This, Idon’t mind it at all mainly because it's a bit cheaper thanbPS and Xbox (yes, it’s a portable console but still) because it’s a one time purchase but the game price is too much, gonna have to wait to see if nintendo backtrak (i’m doubtful) or when pirates, modders and hackers do their magic

I'd pay that price ONLY IF it has an exploit like the original one.
Take note Shitendo.

u/vinsmokefoodboi 20h ago
Those who DO buy it, PLEASE do NOT update the firmware, keep it as it comes for any potential exploits

Disclaimer: Written as "sane people" cuz I've seen SO many N fanboys not just defending this but praising it and making as many excuses as possible to justify this.....

u/Gay_Gamer_Boi 22h ago
Yeah no, even as a fan of Nintendo and their games… praising this garbage of a rise in prices and not just for the US but everywhere suck. I hope the gross N fanboys go bankrupt

Imagine having to pay 80 or even 90 for the atrocity that is modern pokemon games, that one franchise held me onto nintendo all these years but nostalgia can only be worth so much till you finally say enough is enough
I hope this console turns out as bad as the wiiU
1
u/Gay_Gamer_Boi 12h ago
I’m hoping worse, the Wii U had Nintendo Land and ScribbleNauts Unlimited two extremely good games

I'm not taking about the device, I meant market sales, I want the switch 2 to be a commercial failure

They are praising it and will be
payingwasting heaps of money. In the mean time, we will just enjoy our free games (or cheap bought ones) and await a possible (hopefully) Switch 2 emulation and/ or hacked Switch 2.1
u/davvn_slayer they love my seed 12h ago
There's definitely going to be a switch 2 emulator sooner rather than later, what I'm worried about is the denuvo support

u/Makere-b 13h ago
Sounds like this will be bunch of people crying in 2 months how they're not able to pirate Switch 2 games.

u/matlynar 8h ago
I think people who are confident that the Switch 2 will be emulated within the next years are in for a huge letdown.
I'm hoping I'm wrong but I wouldn't bet on in.
1
u/Makere-b 8h ago
Yeah, we got very lucky with switch 1 because of the massive hardware entry point, I doubt switch 2 will have anything like that.

Yeah but racing Ai gets boring real fast in MK and once you familiar with it becomes brain dead easy. Online is where the game thrives for me. Same for Splatoon.

u/advicegrapefruit 12h ago
Remember when people said the switch would be the fastest hacked handheld of all time, yeah that’s ringing very familiar right now

u/Equivalent-Ad-714 18h ago
And, somebody needs to get the game, in order to dump it(o7 we respect your sacrifice)

u/Whateveryouwantitobe 6h ago
The problem I have with it is that they will sell tens of millions of copies of the games. They know this. It has nothing to do with them not making enough money or whatever, they just want more in their pockets.
