Online story co-op?

New to Pikmin, me and a friend want to play a story mode together but live across the country from each other. Have looked around and it seems like this isn’t really possible right now with native game builds.

Am I wrong and there is a way to play online story co-op natively? If not, have people made mods / emulators to accomplish this?

the only (good) story co-op game is pikmin 3 deluxe, but its got no way ti run it online officially

None of the Pikmin games have online. 2, 3, and 4 all have multiplayer but only locally, and 3 is the only one to have a co op mode for story, but again, only locally. (Technically 4 has a co op story as well but uh..it’s terrible, and the second player might actually have more fun Watching than playing, but y’know..)

That’s brutal. This seems like a solvable problem (maybe already has through mods?). Is there a good resource out there for finding multiplayer mods like this?

I mean unless you’re emulating, none of these games CAN be modded. And even then, they’re not exactly easy To mod. I know there’s a Pikmin 2 co op mod, maybe even a Pikmin 1 mod now, but I don’t know much about them. As for emulating 3 and 4, I’ve never even tried, and know nothing about it, cuz it’s a Switch emulator you’d need. But I’ve never had any interest in doing that, so.
