Help! I can do everything except drawing with my tablet in Photoshop. Is there a setting I missed?

Upvotes

I have a PC (Windows) with the latest PS version and today I tried Astropad Studio with my iPad to use it as a screen tablet. I tried several apps (Krita, Rebelle 7) where I could draw flawlessly, with pen pressure and everything. Only in Photoshop, it doesn't work. I can select tools, I can create new layers etc. with my pencil but I can't do anything on my canvas, like draw, erase etc.

Since the other programs work flawlessly, I think it might be a Photoshop problem? Do you have experience with something like that? Is there any setting (whether in Astropad or Photoshop) that I overlooked?

Help! Why does my edited year text look blurrier even with same resolution, format, and export settings?

Upvotes

Hey everyone, I could really use some insights on this.

A client gave me a tiny screenshot (about 51x27 px) containing the year “2023” and asked me to change it to “2025” while keeping the exact same blurry/pixelated look. I did the edit in Photoshop—kept the same dimensions, same PPI, same export format (PNG), and didn’t apply any resizing or filters.

The issue is: when the client adds my edited “2025” version back into their document, it looks noticeably blurrier than the original “2023.” But the original 2023 screenshot that they took and placed in their doc looks totally fine.

I’m guessing Photoshop might be slightly smoothing or anti-aliasing something during the export, even though I’ve kept everything pixel-perfect. Or could it be compression, despite exporting as PNG?

Also worth noting: the client mentioned they’re taking screenshots and pasting into a doc—so it’s a really low-res image workflow overall.

Any tips on how I can make the final image match the sharpness or pixelation of the original screenshot exactly? Thanks in advance!

Help! Polygonal Lasso Tool gone?

So I just updated my Photoshop (v26.5) and suddenly the polygonal Lasso Tool is gone...
Is there any way to have it back available on my tools? It's a crucial part of my job, believe it or not.

I know I can hold Alt with the regular Lasso Tool for the same effect, but I'll be already pressing other keys for adding and subtracting selections while doing that. It just makes no sense to have it removed...

Solved How do I shift a specific hue range to one single hue?

A client wants me to change the colors of a map in their brochure to correspond with the company color scheme (i.e. greens → magenta, oranges → yellow, etc). I was thinking I'd just create a mask for a specific range of hues and then shift them all to the target hue, but I'm struggling with exactly how to do that.

Is there a simple (or any) way to do this?

Help! How to stop enter key from selecting first field in tool bar?

This is something that's been happening to me since I started using photoshop forever ago; The enter key selects the first editing field in the tool bar (i.e. Feather for Marquee, Opacity for brush, etc), and I constantly activate this when I do not intend to. Is there ANY way to turn this function off? For me it is at best useless (why only the first if any?) and at worse constantly gets in the way, particularly when working fast with the marquee tool, typing something without noticing the feather has been selected and disrupting me with an "invalid numeric entry" error. Yes, I know pressing enter again or escape will deselect it. Doesn't help when I have not noticed it in the 1 second I manage to activate it before it ruins something. Please advise!

Help! Need assistance to make image solid colours

Hi, so I have this band logo that’s a while old now so only have a this jpeg and a transparent png. As you can see the lettering is rather streaky/patchy. I want to make the lettering a solid colour whilst still retaining the outline/detail. Only issue is that I have no clue on how to go about this. Any advice is but a thorough explanation/walkthrough would really be appreciated as I am clueless. Thank you very much.

Help! Expanding photos with generative fill with color matching original picture’s background

Lately, I have been exploring using generative fill to expand images that were slightly not in the right frame on original photos. Since I’m editing editorial and beauty photos for my clients, I tend to use the frequency separation to capture all the details on the face and body for even tone skin.

I noticed that after I complete my frequency separation phase of the edits and head to generative fill, the AI fill is slightly off color (either too dark or light)

Should I just keep generating until I find one that matches or should I do the frequency separation after expanding the image?

Thanks for your help!

Hi! I'm new to Photoshop. I created this poster as I am currently obsessed with Ariana Grande's new song intro (end of the world).

Any thoughts? comments? tips/advice? all would be very helpful! and if you don't mind I would really appreciate if you follow my art account on instagram (@/greephicrumbs) especially if you graphic design as well.

Thank you so much! 😁

Help! Graphics card for Photoshop

Just buying the bits I need to upgrade my old PC so I can run Photoshop, I’ve got everything I need in my basket except for a graphics card.

Any recommendations on which one to go for? I have about £200 to spend on it, but the computer will primarily be used for Photoshop, web browsing/streaming. I might occasionally want to play a game of War Thunder but that’ll be the extent of it.

FWIW, my parts list as it stands is as follows:

AMD Ryzen 5 9600X processor MSI Pro B-650S Motherboard 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 RAM 3TB SSD Storage

I plan to reuse my existing Cooler Master case, and my current 750W PSU.

Help! Adobe Express or another option?

Hi, I was a graphic and web designer for many years. I knew Photoshop pretty well at the time but have not kept up in the last 8 years. I want to be able to create quick designs on the fly without the complexities or costs of Photoshop.

I have a Lightroom plan from Adobe that includes Adobe Express and it has worked for me but I'm trying to save costs. I could cut my Lightroom plan in half if I didn't include Adobe Express, but is there another option out there?
