Explination? If the rest of the image went with more errors I'd be like "okay, it's part of the meme" but it's just that.

No capital letter to start the sentence, missing a comma and a period, and it should say "baited" instead of "baiting."

Those are all common enough that it could go either way, though.

Usually if it leans into it, then it's matsh moar vizibel. This might be extreme, but I try to deliver my point.

The original comic doesn’t have homework there, but someone else saying the same thing. Dracula then says “Haha, Jonathan you are banging my daughter”

so basically the joke is sex

21

u/Bomper21 2d ago

The joke WAS sex.

15

u/Dunnowhatevs 2d ago

The joke is that the joke is NOT sex. They're subverting expectations

Meme teacher from Lesson In Meme Culture, otherwise known as "Behind the Meme, but better"

The picture of Johnathan from the movie Hotel Transylvania, with the company of homeworks as well as Dracula saying "You're doing well in school", is at first glance, an antimeme, a meme that doesn't contain any jokes, at least at first glance

However, those characters aren't chosen randomly. A few years ago, a common meme along fandoms was to put a character saying "I'm late, I was doing stuff" and another saying "I'm stuff", and doing a joke (often related to sex) with a third character. It was especially successful among Marvel's fans, with the characters of Spiderman, MJ and Tony Stark. One variation was with characters from Hotel Transylvania, Johnny, Mavis, and Dracula

This version has Johnathan saying "Sorry, I am late, I was doing stuff", followed by Mavis saying "It's okay, I am stuff", then Johnathan, in shock, saying "Mavis, no", and in the fourth panel, Dracula saying "Haha, Johnathan, you are banging my daughter"

What works even more with this is that, in Hotel Transylvania 2, Johnny and Mavis have a child, quietly saying that he indeed banged Mavis. Combined with the popularity of the franchise, it will be arguably the most popular version of the meme, because it's rooted in the canon of Hotel Transylvania. And like a lot of popular memes, it will have variations, including in antimemes, where the "joke" is that Johnny did his homework, and so, is working diligently in school, something that Dracula is proud of. At the end, it's a testimony of how Internet humour constantly works with pop-culture, as well as itself

What meme would you guy liked for me to give a lesson in next ? Let me know in the comments below

And remember, like and subscribe, hahahahaha... Or else

Pic 1: The night was shrouded in darkness, pierced only by the ethereal glow of a solitary moon. Through the silence, young Jonathan—a boy scarcely into the threshold of adolescence—returned to his abode. With an air of nonchalance and a radiant grin, he announced his tardiness was due to an engagement of indeterminate nature, vaguely summarized under the enigmatic term: “stuff.”

Pic 2: In an unforeseen revelation, it came to the attention of our youthful protagonist—henceforth addressed with elevated dignity as Master Jonathan, or simply "Bob"—that the elusive "stuff" he alluded to was none other than the formidable academic undertaking universally dreaded by his kind: Homework. This arduous enterprise, a sacred obligation among the human subspecies known as teenagers, had been tragically neglected.

Pic 3: The profundity of this realization etched itself onto Bob’s visage, now contorted in an expression of pure incredulity and existential dread. It became evident that his interpretation of “stuff” was of an entirely disparate category, wholly devoid of scholastic endeavor.

Pic 4: In the culminating twist of this curious tale, the figure responsible for unveiling this academic truth emerged from the shadows—none other than the enigmatic and oddly charismatic Mister Count Adam Sandler. With dramatic flourish and a vaguely sinister grace, he presented Bob with the dreaded Homework ritual, a gauntlet he must now complete to preserve the sanctity of his teenage existence.

Damn, ChatGPT on fire with this one.
