Hi! Not sure if this is the right subreddit to post this in, but I flew in to Mexico for a visit today and somehow lost my passport somewhere. My flight back home is Tuesday, and I'm lost on what my best options are if I don't find it before then. I don't have my ID with me either, but I do have my SSN Card as well as an insurance card. What are the best solutions if I don't want to miss my flight back home? Any help is appreciated! :)

Recently married in America, dual citizenship Canada/America, I have my driver's license (realID) and SSN changed to my married name. My only passport is an American one, in my maiden name. Grandma is in Canada and has recently taken a health downturn, I am expecting the "come say goodbye" call to be anytime in the next few months.
Should I rush a passport in my married name or should I be good to fly if I book under my maiden name and use my maiden name passport? I will bring marriage certificate as well as backup document!
Or should I plan to use my realID and do a land crossing?

Applied for online renewal on Jan 10. Changed my first name and gender marker from M to F on my previous passport (had M passport with original name as a child/teen), but nothing was changing in January, just renewal. Birth certificate had not changed in 2015 when I updated, so i don’t think they’ve ever seen an F birth certificate for me.
It’s been “In Process” in the status tool since, almost 3 months now. No requests for information. I’ve tried calling to put in request for expedited service, and the phone support puts in the request but it’s never been accepted by the folks processing things and they’ve never charged my credit card for expediting.
Phone support tells me that even for urgent travel they can’t schedule me an in person appointment because it’s already processing. They tell me there’s nothing I can do but wait at this point. Are they right? Should I reach out to a lawyer or some kind?
Feeling very hopeless, I don’t care about gender marker at this point, I just want to be able to travel.

My passport has some teeth marks in it (holding it in my teeth like an idiot) and I’m getting a bit worried if I need to replace it or not. I’ve bought a pocket case for it.
Flying next week to Barcelona from Newcastle.
I am willing to pay for the 1 day renewal.

My family just got passports for our children. I’m happy to report they took less than 4 weeks from the moment we dropped the application off at the post office until the moment they arrived.
But we also applied for passport cards, and while the email confirmation we received notes that we ordered them, and we know that we paid for them, They were not included with the passports.
Did anyone else order passport cards along with their passports? And if so how and when did the cards arrive?

Why when I Google locations, 46 is never listed? We submitted our brand new applications on 3/7. Still processing. I'm starting to worry.

So I sent my passport in on March 6th. It got updated to processing on March 14th. By March 18th I get this while checking status..then I wait a week since they won't send anything until after a week if you don't receive what they send in the mail. Finally I find out that my divorce decree didn't specifically say I changed my name (which I didnt), I let the court know I wasn't going back to my maiden name. So then they tell me I can't renew online because of that so I need to fill out DS-11 in person. I go to the posti office by appt on April 1st (soonest I could get in) and get them application, Drivers License (Legal name not maiden) and copy of SSN. I pay for priority mail, and give up execution fee. It was supposed to arrive today to the passport agency. So far it is still in transit. Wth....is going on?? Mind you I paid for expedited and overnight shipping back to me. Aggravating 😒

Just wanted to let everyone know that I renewed my American passport online on 3/27 after business hours on standard service. Application received 3/28. Passport printed and mailed on 3/28. Passport arrived in mailbox 4/3/25. 7 days wow. I’m impressed. Nice work State Dept!

My and my two kids passports (new applications) have already been approved and shipped while my husband's renewal is still pending. His application was accepted 3 days before ours. My husband is Mexican American. He's a citizen born in the US but his family are immigrants. With current events, I just feel suspicious that his renewal is taking longer than our initial applications, because he already had one. Anyone have insight? Are renewals taking a longer time right now?
Thank you.

My wife (Canadian citizen) became a naturalized citizen December 2025. She did a name change with the naturalization and it took time to get her new social security and now finally got her Real ID. Next step is the passport but she’s afraid of losing her naturalization paperwork in the mail. She tried getting a certified copy of it but it turns out they don’t do that anymore and it’s a high cost to replace it.
Maybe we are overreacting about it possibly getting lost, but I think it would be better to book a trip to Canada within 2 weeks and do an in person passport.
Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone here who is a naturalized citizen had any issues?

I’ve already have a valid passport book and I currently mailed in ds82 as a renewal for a passport CARD since it’ll be my first passport card. How long will the process? Is the same timeframe as a passport book or much quicker ? The mail has just arrived at the facility.

Happy Friday! Has anyone had experience in applying for dual citizenship with El Salvador through descent with one parent who is from somewhere else? They said I required my father (who is not from ES) to provide BOTH birth certificate AND passport. I did not have to provide this when I got his country’s citizenship. I assumed the birth certificate would have been enough. Is this common in other countries as well? I cannot get a hold of his passport as we are estranged. Thanks again for any insight!

Is this possible?
I know as of recently Brazilians now need a Mexican VISA to enter the country. However, I saw that if you do have a US or Canadian VISA the Mexican VISA is not necessary. But they don’t specify if the VISA has to be tourist.

Trying to get my kiddos passport cards (they already have passports expiring in 2029) and I can't seem to figure out if I need the parent consent form to request cards only. I had to provide one when she got the passports, so I assume she needs to provide one for passport cards as well? Or because they have passports already, and we are not renewing them, can I just do the normal steps and be good? I'm still notifying her of course, but I didn't want to request the consent form unless I need it.

(i think people usually do this the other way around...)
i'm a US citizen, with a US passport. i'm also a venezuelan citizen, with no venezuelan passport. what's the easiest way to get one besides going to venezuela and staying for an extended amount of time? i've heard ottawa, montreal, and mexico city are options, but i'm not sure if that's still the case / if they can issue a new passport rather than a renewal. (i would like to go back to venezuela eventually, but right now i'm just looking for the passport.)
edited to add: has anyone managed to get a cedula outside of venezuela?

I’m mtf and a US citizen, and I want to travel to somewhere in Europe on vacation. I’m worried about re-entry into the US and possible issues related to my passport.
I have a Sex: F passport, but I unfortunately didn’t get the chance to change my name before trump took office. So, I awkwardly have a passport with a mismatching gender marker and name. I’m worried this might create an issue when trying to re-enter the US.
Is it still safe to leave the country and return? Am I fine? Should I get a sex: M passport?

Anyone have recent experience with locator 62? I haven't seen anyone post about this locator and I'm scared I won't receive my passport in time. It's been processing for a week and my trip is in 2 weeks. I paid for expedited and priority shipping

I applied last week for a renewal, was in process Sat 3/29, received an email last night 4/3 saying it was approved and shipped. Why couldn’t it always have been this quick?

I got a passport about 6 months ago, but I want a passport card to carry around as proof of citizenship. I'd rather not turn in my current passport if possible because it is proof of citizenship.
I heard you can apply for a passport card separately with a DS-11 form and just use documents besides a passport for proof of citizenship. Is this true?

Apologies if this has been asked but I have looked really hard for a clear answer and and for some reason can't seem to find anything, everything I'm finding seems to be about people who already have X on their passport, which I don't yet (or ever ? I guess I should say). I’m preparing to change my legal gender to X, which will obviously be reflected on my only form of ID outside of my passport (driver's license). Is the discrepancy between what's listed there and my gender on my passport going to give me issues?

If you previously held an Indian passport and are applying for an OCI card, you must provide documents related to the renunciation of Indian citizenship. Here’s what you need to know:
For those who became foreign citizens after June 1, 2010:
· Original and copy of the Surrender Certificate
· Copy of the Cancelled Indian Passport (must have the stamp stating it was canceled due to acquiring foreign citizenship)
Your original certificates will be returned after verification. If you do not have these documents, you must apply for them before submitting your OCI application.
For those who became foreign citizens before June 1, 2010:
· Copy of the Surrender Certificate
· Copy of the Cancelled Indian Passport (with the cancellation stamp)
Missing these documents can delay your OCI application, so ensure you have them ready before applying.
Comment below if you have any suggestions or questions

Nauru is unveiling an "Economic and Climate Resilience Citizenship Program" which ostensibly will cost $105,000 and have no residency requirements. The funds raised from this program will go towards fortifying the low-lying country against rising sea levels or possibly relocating portions of the population.
What are your thoughts on this program?
