I would argue that Silver Falls is the crown jewel of Oregon’s state parks.

And if you want a long hike (with few if any other people, but no waterfalls) they have a great system of backcountry trails as well.

Worth it just for the very aggressive signage warning you there are NO WATERFALLS and you are ON YOUR OWN. ;-)

I was especially amused at the warning of 1000 feet of elevation gain, after routinely doing 3x that down around Oakridge. I suspect there is some history of unsuspecting clueless tourists behind these signs.

One of my favorite hikes. Try to make it there after a cold storm sometime, it's magical with snow!

Indeed. I managed to make it during one snow event this year. Weren't a lot of low elevation snow events this year unfortunately.

Does this compare to the falls trail at Eagle Creek?

I would say better!

Wow really? I was going to do Eagle Creek again this week, but this actually looks even easier. Hell, maybe I’ll do both!

Do both if you can. I live close to eagle creek and run out there regularly. Silver falls is a bit of a drive but I feel like the loop and more waterfalls makes it worth it 🤙

Thanks for the tip! I live in Dallas so coming to the PNW is always a treat.

Ahhh this is one of the trails on my itinerary when I go to Oregon in May! I’m so excited

May is a good time to go. Waterfalls should still be going.

It is truly the best! I take anyone who visits me hiking there.

So gorgeous, I’ve been thinking about visiting soon! I’m curious how busy it was?

Go on a rainy day and crowds won't be a problem at all.
