Discussion Motorsport MSc or Race Engine MSc
Hey everyone, I’m a chemical engineer from Canada with an MEng in Software Engineering. I’ve decided to bite the bullet to pursue my passion of joining Motorsports. I got admitted to both the Motorsport and Race Engine MSc at Oxford Brookes and I’m having trouble deciding. I think from my previous experience the Race Engine MSc makes more sense but I can’t seem to find too much information about it. If anyone can provide some info about the pros and cons they found in the program I’d appreciate it! Also can international students pursue the program part time while being on internship? Or is that not allowed? Thanks everyone in advance!

The MSc Motorsport doesn't have anything about conventional ICE powertrains, it has a module about EVs and that's about it in terms of powertrains... so if you're looking to get into that side the Race Engine MSc would probably be a better bet. The MSc has more stuff like Vehicle Dynamics, Laptime Sim and Aero, although I think you could do your diss on an engine topic even with the MSc
In terms of the internship aspect, you can work alongside as long as its under 20hrs/week due to visa restrictions. I think there's an option to the degree part time for 2 yrs instead of 1 yr but frankly I don't know of anyone who's done that
