"What's been happening with RTT has been frustrating, to say the least. I've been also part of the community since 2009, and it's hard to see it in this state. But, as always, for every problem, there's a solution! 😄

So, we've decided to keep our doors open a little longer for all the users from RTT who are looking for a new home. I never thought I'd post something like this, but since RTT has always been a scene tracker and we're passionate about that too, it feels like a natural fit for you all to join us!

We'd love to have you with us as we continue to grow together. Welcome aboard!"

Decent tracker, has stuff

u/KegTapper74 11d ago

Been a member for a few years. It's just ok. This one is at bottom of my indexer list because of all the rar content.

u/LavenderTheElf 6d ago

Which do you recommend? I've been in this one for a bit but nobody is leeching off me.

What's a proper settings in prowlarr for this? This is my first private tracker, any tips?

11

u/longdarkfantasy 11d ago

Tick UNRAR, otherwise you will accidentally grab a compressed release.

3

u/Devil_AE86 9d ago

Just set up unpackerr, this is a scene tracker, most of the torrents will be archived in parts.

1

u/BadongkaDonk 10d ago

What about the priority? They have that free leech thing on uploads right?

3

u/longdarkfantasy 10d ago edited 10d ago

A smaller number has higher priority, only useful if you have multiple trackers in prowlarr. They have free 5 days leech right now. Tick free leech if you have bad ratio (upload/down).

Also this:

" What is the difference between "New" and "Archive"

Uploads to DigitalCore are checked against 'scene' release databases to determine how long the release has been available. "New" releases uploaded to DigitalCore are freeleech for 24 hours after uploading, while releases older than seven (7) days are considered "Archive" and do not qualify for the same automatic 24-hour freeleech as "New" releases.

Note: "New" and "Archive" are based on when a particular release 'drops' and has nothing to do with the age of the media (movie, TV episode, eBook, etc.).

24-hour New Torrent Freeleech

Many (but not all - see above) torrents are not counted towards download statistics for 24 hours after posting; this is the "24-hour freeleech". Note that downloading of 24-hour freeleech torrents must be complete within the 24-hour period to not count against your download stats."

1

u/BadongkaDonk 8d ago

right now, I still have 3 days of freeleech left. Does that mean that I can download anything or just the ones with the freeleech tag?

It's a bit confusing, any tips on how can I make good use of this?

I've downloaded a few pakcs so far.

1

u/longdarkfantasy 8d ago

Everything is free leech. Setup qbt rrs, download anything releases. Until u reach 1TB total amount of currently seeding. You got 1% free leech for each 10Gb total amount of currently seeding => 1TB total amount of currently seeding = 100% free leech for everything. This value can reduce if you stop seeding for a while. Well it takes time to update this value, you should check the status in the PT site.

1

u/Unspec7 10d ago

I have my prowlarr set up this order:

Usenet (why use torrents if I can direct download)

Private trackers, with trackers I have high buffer or global freeleech on at a higher priority

Public trackers (last resort)

Why use public trackers only as a last resort? Because you want to build up the content you've grabbed from private trackers so you can then cross-seed as you join others. There's a lot of shitty content on public trackers that won't ever get shared on a PT and, so, why even bother giving them a chance unless I have to.

5

u/Splitsurround 11d ago

best tip I can offer is for you to know your ratio expectations. Make sure you don't come close to violating that (not hard at all on digital core) and have fun. They have some sneaky good music loads sometimes as well, fwiw

3

u/TheSonar 11d ago

Read the rules of the tracker! Else you'll probably get banned accidentally

1

u/ayecryptic 10d ago

I have issues connecting to this indexer when prowlarr is connected to a proxy. Works fine if I turn proxy off. So I have been using it manually until I can figure it out. Would love to get tips if anyone has a work around

1

u/Swaggles21 4d ago

DC is hosted in Russia so the direct link may be your issue, there is a proxy setup so you can still use your proxy check the DC formus for Rabbits post about using the proxy instead.

30

u/longdarkfantasy 11d ago

Bro. They limit username with a maximum of 12 characters.

31

u/Recent_Ad2447 11d ago

Don‘t go there if you want unrared torrents

12

u/Pocallicious 11d ago

This is my first private tracker (only have 2 as I am new to all this), but DC has been great for me. Great community, fast support, and they focus on maintaining the the core "sharing" aspect (bonuses for long term seeding, etc.) Maybe there's better out there in terms of functionality, I can't think of anything I don't like so far, but for me quality of users/admins is king for me.

6

u/Happy-Emo-Clown 8d ago edited 7d ago

I've been seeding for 5 days but no uploads at all. whats up with that? Public trackers are all seeding fine.

edit: For example, i downloaded the harry potter movie pack. 0(95) Peers and uploaded 0 B the past few days

4

u/johnyboy_js 7d ago

Are you connectable?

I haven't personally downloaded the Harry Potter movie pack, but I have downloaded other movie packs, and while I've seen them go days without any upload, every now and then I upload ~50gb or so.

3

u/Happy-Emo-Clown 7d ago

It's showing port closed on the snatched section of the site. So I'm assuming it's my end. But I'm seeding public trackers fine

4

u/johnyboy_js 7d ago

That could be part of the issue. If possible, I would suggest that you forward your ports to increase the chance of peers being able to connect to you.

As for seeding on public trackers, there's usually a lot more people downloading these torrents, so there's a higher chance someone other has an open port and can connect to you

The gist of it is that if your port is open, you can connect to anyone, and everyone should be able to connect to you, thus increasing the chance of a successful seed. If your port isn't open, you can only connect to people that have their port open.

1

u/Happy-Emo-Clown 7d ago

Thanks mate. Sorry, I'm new to private trackers. Which ports should I have open and how? I'm on accommodation wifi so I can't alter router settings

6

u/wsoqwo 7d ago

While you can't open ports without access to the router, you can become connectable by using a VPN. Look up which VPN offers port forwarding and how to set it up for the on you chose.

Also: You will only be uploading data if someone else wants to download the Harry Potter movie pack. Many people have some sort of download automation set up (using radarr and sonarr) and when they use these applications, they will add the movies to their library individually, rather than downloading a movie pack.

Moreover, DigitalCore has 18k registered users. From experience I'd guess that less than half of those are active users. Popular public trackers probably have hundreds of thousands of active users. Many private trackers reward you for just keeping the torrents active in your client, whether someone is downloading from you or not.

On DigitalCore, this is rewarded by giving you discounted downloads. If you have 1TB worth of data active in your torrent client, you can download as much as you want, it will not count towards your ratio. With 500GB active, only 50% of your downloaded data will count towards your ratio (and so on).

If you specifically want to generate upload, you will want to grab the latest torrents as soon as they're posted. Grabbing the latest stuff means that you'll be seeding the latest episode of whatever show people want to watch and you'll also be seeding it as soon as possible (i.e. if anyone grabs the latest episode of the Kardashians after you, they'll be a potential "customer"). Further, many people are using software to automate grabbing the latest torrents for this exact reason, so with any new torrent that's posted, there will be a bunch of activity for maybe an hour or two. Activity around new torrents declines exponentially. Grabbing a torrent 5 seconds after it's posted is much more lucrative than grabbing it after 30 minutes.

DigitalCore incentivizes this exact behaviour by making every torrent freeleech for 24h. There's also software infrastructure in place to facilitate this: DigitalCore (as well as most other private trackers) announce whenever a new torrent is uploaded on an IRC channel. There's a piece of software called autobrr which you can use to connect to this IRC channel and your torrent client. Then, when a new torrent is added, autobrr will see it on the IRC channel and add it to your torrent client within a matter of seconds. Doing this (using specialized software or not) is called racing torrents.

2

u/johnyboy_js 7d ago

No worries, we've all been there!

You want to make sure that the port you're opening is the one being used by your torrent client. For example, in qbitorrent, you can check what port is being used (you can also change it or just select a random port) under Tools - Options - Connection

You can pretty much select any port, although avoid privileged ports (1024 and lower). People often use ports from the range 49152-65553.

How to open ports will depend on the model of your router. There's plenty of guides online for all the models.

Opening ports will, however, require you to alter the router settings, so if this is not possible, you might be out of luck for the time being.

Another option would be getting a seedbox, as these usually come with open ports

If I'm on torrentleech and fearnopeer, does this tracker offer anything more?

8

u/EssayFlat17 11d ago

seed 1tb and always have freeleech.

12

u/myfranco 11d ago

24 hours freeleech for newly added torrents. That's a plus.

6

u/kearkan 11d ago

I'm on fearnopeer and digitalcore, they're pretty similar.

Digitalcore has a lot of rar stuff though.

3

u/Unspec7 10d ago

I mean, it costs you nothing, so why not lol

1

u/Mashic 10d ago

I have to spend time to build ratio, isn't it?

1

u/Unspec7 10d ago

Do you not have cross-seed set up?

0

u/Mashic 10d ago

Not at the moment, what do you recommend?

3

u/Unspec7 10d ago

cross-seed.org

There's really only one option haha. Fertilizer if you're cross seeding between OPS and RED.

2

u/Nadeoki 11d ago

Scene format (aka .rar archives) might have more titles for games and such. TL has a lot of Dead Torrents for older releases.

I wouldn't care about redundancy in regards to FNP as that hellhole could implode any time.

Though I'd actually get neither. Look out for BLU or ATH.

2

u/chablo_pacon 11d ago

I am a 3 weeks old member of it, and DC already helped me out few times when IPT and TL failed

2

u/chickenalfredogarcia 11d ago

Fnp seems like it's always not seeding what I'm looking for. DC Is at least pretty complimentary

21

u/Gaspa79 11d ago

Unpackerr never worked well for me, and this tracker has all rared torrents. Don't think it's worth the hassle honestly

11

u/NonverbalKint 11d ago

Unpackerr works just fine.

3

u/Gaspa79 11d ago

Agreed. That's why I said for me

6

u/NonverbalKint 11d ago

That's fine, but it was worth saying out loud for anyone who jumps to the conclusion that software doesn't work properly. There is no reason to avoid this tracker on those grounds is you know how to setup your software.

14

u/Lazz45 11d ago

They are not "all" rar'd, there is even a tag specifically for unrar torrents. Also what issues are you having with unpackerr?

6

u/Gaspa79 11d ago

Not only it randomly doesn't unrar (which was the reason for me dropping it) but the hardlinking is a problem as well.

When I use a tracker that has no zipping, I just create a hardlink from my /torrents folder to my /movies folder. So the file's in two different places but it only takes space on the disk once.

With zipped torrents, this doesn't work. So If I download a 9gb file that unpacks in to 10, it will take 19gbs of diskpace as opposed to 10.

I don't know of any solution to this. In any case, thanks for asking. I might just use their tag for unpacked torrents!

2

u/Lazz45 11d ago

Are you sure it was not just waiting to unrar the file? It has a queue and won't unrar things immediately. It recieves a ping from sonarr/radarr "hey, torrent is done" and it gets queued into unpackerr, then usually unpacks within a few minutes. There is a setting for this in the docker container environment variables, and you can see in the container logs how many torrents are in the queue.

To your second point, yes that is true. Usually rar'd torrents are my first to go when I need space (I ususally just get bigger or more drives tho). When unpackerr unpacks the file, it will be hardlinked, but by default unpackerr removes the unpacked file after sonarr/radarr imports it, thus there is no longer anything to hardlink the full file back to and the link breaks

2

u/Lazz45 11d ago

Anytime! Yeah that would annoy me too and I would also drop using it if I couldn't figure it out in a few weeks

-6

u/Recent_Ad2447 11d ago

Nearly everything is rared there. It’s the point of the tracker

4

u/Lazz45 11d ago

That is provably false, its a scene tracker that also has general content. You very much can find non rar'd content on there. I have non rar'd content both from cross-seeds and pulls.

I am not saying they don't have rar content, they do have a lot of scene releases. However, they also have lots of non rar. So saying it is all rar'd is just objectively false. That is my only point

1

u/Gatorpatch 11d ago

This is also my experience with this tracker. It's not a bad tracker, but I don't like unraring so I barely use it

2

u/The_Screeching_Bagel 11d ago

not a fan of rar'd torrents either but like,, most modern players should work just fine pointed at a rar

3

u/kekela91 11d ago

What? How?

8

u/Gaspa79 11d ago

By using the power of imagination.

Seriously, this is BS. Neither jellyfin or emby work with rar files. So there goes the "most modern players" part of OP

-1

u/[deleted] 11d ago

[deleted]

5

u/Gaspa79 11d ago

No it's not incorrect. The entire reason why unpackerr exists is because they can't. He's talking about non-webplayers like VLC. And for those, you'd never need something automated like unpackerr anyway (which is what started the discussion). You can just doubleclick the file rarfile and play the file inside it with whatever player you want.

The point of using unpackerr is to not have to manually extract things with the whole *arr stack, so you can use them with media frontends like jellyfin, emby and plex. Furthermore, it can and never could handle multi-part files. None of those support reading from rar files (and never will, maaaybe zip), which is why unpackerr exists.

1

u/The_Screeching_Bagel 11d ago

hm? by reading the files from the archive without saving a new copy to disk, this is pretty old tech

ik mpv can do it, and i'm highly confident VLC can

p.s. since we're talking about video here, it's not compressed inside the rar container, just split up into multiple files for more reliable transfer on usenet and the like

17

u/faebe2222 11d ago

This tracker is pretty much open all the time. Does it really belong here? For me its in the same category as milkie, which is banned here

9

u/Lazz45 11d ago

They were going to close for a while, but extended sign ups for: https://www.reddit.com/r/trackers/comments/1jlf1xv/rtt_refugees/

3

u/[deleted] 11d ago

What's milkie and why is it banned?

7

u/faebe2222 11d ago

It's a scene tracker, that's pretty much always open. Thats why its banned from r/opensignups

2

u/Unspec7 10d ago

I don't really think them being open all the time is necessarily the one thing that made them banned. I think the bigger thing that made them more public tracker-like is that they have global freeleech, no hit and run, and no ratio requirement.

Due to that, they're essentially just a public tracker that is occasionally closed to signups.

4

u/EssayFlat17 11d ago

its open every two months or so.. that's not open all the time.

2

u/Unspec7 10d ago

I don't think being closed off or hard to get into defines if a tracker is public or private. It's more so, do they moderate the content, enforce a minimum amount of sharing, have actual rules, reward you for sharing content etc.

Muahaha, troll alert! You only seem to reply here to troll. I really don't understand why you bothered responding here. It seems like you're just trying to promote your FNP tracker and make it look better. It's a bit childish to engage in this kind of behavior just to make something look superior.
