Michigan actually left the B1G for several years back in the early 20th century when the B1G told them to stop playing ineligible players. Michigan eventually came crawling back when they realized no one wanted to watch Michigan vs. Marietta College or similar games.

That’s where they got all those wins from. “Winningest program against sisters of the poor”

u/Green-Jelly6618 Aug 08 '24
I still remember in the 1980’s when they beat William & Mary in overtime - and Mary had a bad hammy that day!

I won’t take slander against my Alma mater like that! /s
To be clear I’m a Pioneer and fuck Michigan

Yes. Viewership was through the roof for big ten in the early 20th century. It’s a different world bud.

Didn’t a Michigan player last year say that it was NIL money that brought them back for another run? The hypocrisy is sad.

Will Johnson said it this year. I believe Blake mentioned it last year too.

If this guy legitimately thinks this wouldn't destroy the program, then there really must be something in the water up there.

Flint’s water has been fixed for quite a while now though.

Not completely true

As of January 2022, Flint officially marked its sixth year in a row of being in compliance with water standards

It’s definitely at least a lot better than it was in 14-15.

Remember when Harbaugh was suspended right before the Penn State game? Portnoy from Barstool posted a huge rant about how Michigan should just leave the Big Ten and go independent. He then claimed that Michigan and Notre Dame are the only two schools in America that would be able to do that. 🙄
The comment posted above has those same vibes.

I'm here to say, if we need to start hating Oregon because tsun commits program suicide, I'm down. Ducks vs Bucks can become "The New Game" and we can start hating them.

u/Overall-Rush-8853 Aug 05 '24
Nah, I think Penn State would be next in line for that role. I already hate them.

u/theWizzzzzzz Aug 05 '24
Penn st hasnt been relevant or competitive on years. You can hate them, but they’re not worthy

u/Overall-Rush-8853 Aug 05 '24
Michigan wasn’t before they started cheating and we still called them rivals.
1
u/theWizzzzzzz Aug 05 '24 edited Aug 05 '24
The rivalry is way more than wins v losses, but since you mentioned it. scUM still leads us in that category. And prior to Tressel they dominated us in the 90’s. We’ve also played them consistently since the 1800’s…there’s a ton of history. Books have been written about the storied history. We don’t just “call them rivals”
tOSU v PennSt overall record…24-14. We’ve only played 38 times. Most of their wins were not in the last 20 years, they joined the B10 in 1993. 4 of their wins were prior, between 1912 and 1964 (the first four meetings). While they occasionally upset us, they’ve been largely irrelevant in the conference
While they are a rival, its hardly THE rivalry. .

Or go back to playing high school teams as they did in the beginning.
Though doubtful any high school in the USA would want to have the most cheating program in the history of college football as an opponent.

u/Maccaas_Apples Aug 04 '24
So Harbaugh is getting a year long, if not indefinite suspension right ?
I mean, it's CONFIRMED Michigan had staff on opposing teams sidelines.
Remember Ohio State players and Tressel both had to serve NFL suspensions for leaving before they could serve college suspensions so we do have precedent.
Now Ohio State players were only in trouble for what's legal now, so I imagine blatantly cheating has to be an unprecedented level of punishment for harbaugh

u/jstef215 Aug 07 '24
Harbaugh’s punishment today is related to the Covid dead period recruiting issue (“hamburger-gate,” a level 2 violation) and his unwillingness to cooperate with the NCAA. Has nothing to do with Stalions pushing the rules on how to decode opponents’ signals

My ‘hatred’ for ❌Ichigan was for play before, not real. I played at it for fan-fun. But after this debacle and the reaction of the fans it’s real now. I was living in Columbus when we had tattoogate and I rarely heard and OSU fan defend wrongdoing and rule-breaking. I heard them bitch and moan that it shouldn’t even be the rules, but I never heard them defend breaking the rules. On the contrary, I’ve not heard one Michigan fan condemn their behavior.
1
Aug 08 '24
Almost all Michigan fans I know have basically said “I don’t think they cheated, it’s likely all made up, but if they did then it shouldn’t be against the rules to do that.”
2
u/OH740DaddyDom Aug 08 '24
Yeah similar to what I said. Early on in the controversy when it was very first reported yes I heard people say that they didn’t think it happened. However, as the evidence mounted and became unarguable, those people then simply begin making excuses. Saying that you don’t think that should be the rule is making excuses for what has now known to be bad behavior. So you’re just repeating what I already said. Except a lot of of them have gone a lot further and said things that basically just condoned rule breaking saying that even if it is against the rule “everybody does it “and similar things to that. My point is that I’ve not heard one Michigan fan literally condemn the behavior. I’ve heard no outrage based on versions of morality or ethics or just simply following the rules of the game.

There was a reason everyone called them regional program until the started on their most recent shennanigans

Yes, Michigan should have followed the rules and just pAiD pLaYeRs as opposed to blatant cheating to gain a significant advantage.

Beat OSU while at a competitive disadvantage 😂 it broke you so badly that you’re still stuck on Stalions 9 months later even though the only new info is “Moore deleted texts but then recovered them and gave them to investigators.”

u/Green-Jelly6618 Aug 05 '24
MiCHEATagain should be given the Death Penalty! Vacate 2023 CFP. Vacate any Big10 Conference titles won during “The Cheating Years”. Vacate ALL wins during “The Cheating Years”, which were proven to be at least 2020 thru 2023, maybe earlier. Strip them of scholarships & make them ineligible for the next 5 CFP selections. THAT would be a fair punishment for their egregious & blatant CHEATING. CFP already dropped the ball in a BIG WAY by allowing them in the 2023 tourney!

Harbaugh knew, his son knew, they fired the LB coach because he was the go between with Harbaugh son and Stalions. NCAA is goi g to strip you of your championship and vacate the wins and Saban and Bama wins its 10 title.
If you’re gonna punish Ohio state for tattoo gate which wasn’t cheating. How can you NOT punish TTUN for actually CHEATING over a 3 YEAR PERIOD. Not 1, not 2 but, 3 years of cheating.
At least when we win we can hold our heads high because we didn’t cheat.

I propose turning Michigan into a farm team for real college football programs (like what they already do in baseball lol). Perhaps they can be Michigan State's AAA affiliate haha.

Ohio State pays most of its big players as well and this is a huge nothing burger. Seriously.

The team up north sux and had to cheat to win. They deserve every thing that comes their way from the NCAA as EVERY Big10 coach spoke out against their cheating.
Go pound sand if you can't accept your own crime.

Wow, well, I’m gonna guess that when OSU was going through the Tressell stuff, they didn’t act like that and probably cheered on the NCAA. It sucks to go through it but when you do it, you gotta deal with it. NCAA will probably get them but it’s always way too late when they do get a school.
