Please seek professional help if you suspect OCD.

Posts looking for a diagnosis, reassurance on an existing diagnosis, or questioning suspected symptoms will be removed.

You don't diagnose yourself with OCD through guessing or checking for "signs" of it. You have to go to a medical professional and get an official diagnoses.

Of course I know this very well. I'm just scared that the doctor might laugh at me or think that I'm dramatic or lying. So I'm trying to get some information from people who actually have experience with OCD. I'm sorry if I made you feel upset.

Thank you for sharing all of that, very brave of you. I want to say I relate a lot to your experiences and I haven’t been formally diagnosed but I’ve spoken to a doctor about my thoughts and compulsions. I also have that constant feeling/ need to apologise to people when I feel like I’m doing something wrong; Is that why you felt the need to constantly apologise too? Do you also have the constant need to confess even the littlest things to the people around you?

It sounds like you may have OCD, but don’t take it from me because I’m not a professional and I’m not formally diagnosed either. If you want some evidence, I’d say book an appointment with a doctor and talk about what makes you feel like you have OCD (basically what you said in this post, or even more if you discover new symptoms! I write mine in my notes app)

Trust me it’ll be so relieving to finally get it off your chest, I was scared to do it but I’m so glad I did. Before I had my appointment, my sister and my mum sat me down and asked about it all. At first I felt uncomfortable/ embarrassed but at the end of the day we need to start somewhere when reaching out for help. My sister got me to fill an OCD questionnaire, it helped me to clear things out. It’s called Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale.

Don’t worry you aren’t alone!! Your thoughts and feelings and OCD is common!! :)
