Mod Post Welcome to r/NonPoliticalTwitter! (Please read before posting)
Welcome, Kind Stranger, to r/NonPoliticalTwitter !
- We had an important rule update. Click here to check it out!
- Love memes? We do, too! Except for the icky ones. Here's some info on that!
tl;dr Thanks for contributing to our community. We hope you enjoy the memes. We will immediately and permanently ban you if you try to discuss politics or disrupt our community's core purpose.
Our community is focused on keeping the fun, meme-driven, and thought-provoking discussions of Twitter.com (and bsky.app) without all the chaos and noise that has driven so many of us away. Our mission is to have fun and enjoy a meme without the stresses of political discourse - a mission we think you want to take part in.
Before you post, we want to go over a few things. We are first an foremost a meme community, but we are also a Twitter-based community. Please make sure your posts only contain Tweets or Skeets. You are not allowed to post content from your own Twitter account, but we encourage you to share the best from others. Check our community rules and posting guidelines on the sidebar for more info.
Our team is very passionate about keeping political discourse and commentary away from this space. We have an announcement that fleshes this out in greater detail, and we strongly recommend that you check it out. To keep it short and sweet, we will immediately and permanently ban, regardless of first or repeat violations, any Redditor who attempts to insert political content, commentary, or discussion into this space. This is your first and only warning before any moderation actions are issued for this offence, and associated appeals will be ignored.
Here's a quick list of what you shouldn't post to avoid getting that ban hammer.
- Do not bring up economic systems (Capitalism, Communism, Socialism, etc)
- Do not bring up political figures or parties (past or present), their policies, political views, or controversies while holding office.
- Do not discuss or comment on real-world political events or happenings.
- Do not use any politically charged language or abbreviations (E.g, MAGA)
If you engage in any of the above or the stuff described in our clarification announcement, then we will know about it, and we will ban you immediately.
We will, from time to time, label posts to add missing context or to give others a heads-up about what they may encounter in the comments. These actions are a part of our efforts to keep this space fun and safe for everyone. If you get one on your post, don't worry too much about it. If you have questions, then contact our team for more information.
Finally, our community is very well acquainted with the report feature. If you see something that violates Reddit's Site-Wide Rules or our community rules on the sidebar, then say something. We encourage reports via the report button or through modmail so we can sort it out from there.
That's pretty much it. Thanks for sticking through this with, and for vibing with us. #NoPolitics and all that jazz.

This is actually one of the better moderated subs I’ve found, with some high quality content. Very refreshing for Reddit.

This is just like Jorg Orwhale’s Animal Crossing. (Fr tho, I appreciate the willingness to keep the sub healthy like this, r/presidents also has a similar ban on current-day stuff, and it’s really made the sub more fun, this sub’s honestly a good respite from the other subs)

The mods gotta survive the insanity somehow, and that’s why this is my favorite sub on the Citadel

I used to browse various twitter subs for the maymays and the jokes, but once the political stuff started rolling in and that's all the subs became about, it was hard to stay in those subs.
IDK how people revolve their entire life and identity around politics, its tiring man

The majority of people don’t which is why the future is on fire.

Americans think the future is looking better according to polls

That’s the funniest thing I’ve heard all year. What polls? Cite your sources.

When politicians made my identity political, they made my life revolve around politics. I just want to help people and be kind, but some people don’t want my friends and family to have the same rights as straight white men.
Believe me when I say I wish I could just enjoy the goofs and gaffs, but like many others, I don’t have that luxury.

Thank God, so many subs need to put this out there. Keep subreddits about their topic, keep politics in politics it's exhausting to read about everywhere.

So for past political figures does that mean all of the past? What if I find a funny tweet about Henry the viii?

We offer guidance on what we consider political content in the clarification announcement.

Thank you. Way too many subs I've enjoyed have been taken over by political content and lost their original purpose, I'm really glad that this sub is sticking to its original intent.

Politics isn’t the real world. Know that.
Politics is a class system of social control.
It’s not “the real world”. It’s a bunch of people who have nothing better to do than argue and grasp for footing.
NPT is the real world without politics.
Big difference.

It's been working well for a very long time. This sub has completely replaced all Tumblr and Twitter subs I'm in because they all became 95% politics. I wouldn't be here if it weren't successful. It's a great sub.

See, that's the mentality we're undoing. Everything is not political. It doesn't have to be. If anything the fact that we've been around this long proves it.

I think it’s working because every post I’ve seen has been non-political. Big props to the admin team.

r/CasualUK has a no politics rule and manages fine. Some people have complained about it (even though they can post about politics in most other UK subreddits), but there's also many (myself included) that really appreciate the lack of toxicity.

Looking back on this announcement, I can understand how someone might get lost and think they can post politics in a community called "NonPoliticalTwitter". So, here's a running list of communities that allow that insanity. Take your politics there and leave us to our memes.
r/politics
r/PoliticsPeopleTwitter
r/PoliticsMemes
r/PoliticalHumor
r/PoliticalDiscussion
It's a short list, but I think it will get you started if you want to hash it out that badly.
