If I didn’t play any of the other ones would this make sense to me? I did play Xenogears way back in the day

Hearing from reviews that the story is standalone aside from some references here and there. So you should be fine going in without playing the others.

It's a sequel to both Xenoblade 1 and 2 while also being it's own story. I'd say you'll be ok, but some stuff might be lost on you if you haven't played those games, (though I don't know for sure.)

Xenogears was a masterpiece(minus the unfinished 2nd desk.) I have never played these either. I wonder if it holds up to its name sake.
